It was a dream working with Aishwarya Rai, Rituparno Ghosh, who's currently involved with the post-production of his new film CHOKHER BALI in Kolkata, tells me. Yes, she's extremely effective in the film. Don't you think so? he asks. I agree! Rituparno reminisces, The first time I met Ash for discussions on the role in the film, her first question was, 'Will I have to shave my head?' I replied in the negative. And when we started shooting, she took to the character instantaneously. I must add, she's an intelligent and sensitive actress. After having cast Ash in one of the main roles, didn't he feel like making the film in Hindi? Had I done that, it would've taken away the essence. The subject of CHOKHER BALI is such, making it in any other language other than Bengali would've been improper, he states.
