Kalpana Lajmi's next movie Daman expresses the anguish of an abused wife. Raveena plays Durga Sakiya, a girl from a humble background who gets married into a wealthy tea plantation owner's family. She discovers that her husband, Sayaji Shinde, is a sexual sadist. Durga is not only subjected to physical or emotional rape but she feels that her spirit has also been raped. She then takes a decision to run away from her marriage. Even then, the incidents of violence haunts her mind. She is so traumatized that she cannot break away completely from her previous life and start life afresh. The movie focuses on marital rape and domestic violence that cuts across all barriers and that these are very prevalent in nearly all the countries. The movie was shot completely in Assam in a flat period of 19 days The music has been composed by Bhupenda.
