Pak Govt. fines Meera for the kiss

A Pakistani media report on Wednesday revealed that the government of Pakistan is considering a ban on Pakistani actors appearing in Indian movies. This issue has been taken up after Meera; a popular Pakistani actress performed a kissing scene with her Indian co-star Ashmit Patel in Bhatt’s film Nazar. The Pakistani government has imposed a heavy fine on her for performing such a scene. “Meera’s actions were against Islamic ethics and moral values,” Pakistan’s Online News Agency quoted a spokesman of the ministry of information as saying. Pakistani actors who go abroad are ambassadors of the country and not allowed to spread vulgarity, the spokesman was quoted as saying. Meera, a popular actress from Lahore, had earlier complained that she had received threatening phone calls from persons claiming to represent religious groups in Pakistan. Meera had reportedly asked for a re-shoot of the sequence but the Bhatts refused to comply.
