After a scintillating score in ZUBEIDAA, A.R. Rahman is in form once again. His musical score in ONE 2 KA 4 is also of a hit quality. Let me begin by drawing your attention to the songs that have immense appeal. The four numbers that stand out instantly are:- 'Osaka Muraiya', rendered by Sonu Nigam and Rageshwari. The song is already being promoted in a big way and one expects it to be a chartbuster before the film's theatrical release. 'Khamoshiyan Gungunane Lagi' is soft, soothing and beautifully rendered by Lata Mangeshkar and Sonu Nigam. In fact, in every Rahman film, Lata is given that one number that towers above the rest. In ZUBEIDAA, for instance, only Lata could've done justice to 'So Gaya Hain', which has a haunting effect. 'Allay Allay' is another cool composition and Sukhwinder Singh and Shaan are at their best here. 'I Am Sorry' is another gem, rendered expertly by Udit Narayan, Srinivas and Poonam Bhatia. However, every Rahman album takes time to grow with the audience and here too, the music is not that would appeal to you instantly. The songs grow on you when you hear it again and again. The lyrics are by (late) Majrooh Sultanpuri and the album is being marketed on the HMV label. On the whole, the music of ONE 2 KA 4 is a sure-shot chartbuster. Another feather in Rahman's cap! Rating: (Very Good).
