It's official now! Gurinder Chadha has signed Aishwarya Rai for her new production, BRIDE AND PREJUDICE, which will roll in April. At a get-together at a posh suburban hotel with a handful of media persons, Chadha revealed that the film would be shot extensively in U.K., U.S.A. and Amritsar in India. However, Chadha has clarified that she hasn't finalised anyone opposite Ash yet. We've got a lot of feelers [from the U.S.], but haven't finalised anyone yet, she elucidates. Meanwhile, Gurinder has already signed Nadira Babbar, Namrata Shirodkar, Meghna Kothari and Piya, a veejay. I'd been toying to make it [Jane Austen's classic novel PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, written in 1813] some day. Comprising Indian, British-Asian and American actors, BRIDE AND PREJUDICE should appeal to both the Indian diaspora and the international audience as well, Gurinder reveals. To be made in English language, the film will have seven songs in all, all in English. So far, Anu Malik has already recorded four songs, one of which was penned by Farhan and Zoya Akhtar. The music, she elaborates, will be a mix of Hindi films, WEST SIDE STORY, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and GREASE. Santosh Sivan has already been signed as the cinematographer, while the choreographer [also from India] hasn't been finalised yet.
