iDream’s ambitious project: Bachchans being considered:

The curtain raisers over, the focus shifts to The Dome the venue of the prestigious I.I.F.A. Awards ceremony.

In a very short span, I.I.F.A. had made an effort to provide a prestigious platform for producers of Hindi films to showcase their products to the world. If I.I.F.A. showcased five scheduled-for-release films to the global media [India, Malaysia, U.K., Indonesia, South Africa], this year also marked the world premiere of ARMAAN, besides the launch of Anil Sharma’s new production AB TUMHARE HAWALE WATAN SAATHIYO, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Bobby Deol in the lead.

The awards presentation by Anil Kapoor and Diya Mirza was amongst the highlights of the evening. Especially Anil’s witty one-liners. Besides, the ‘acts’ by Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherji, Shilpa Shetty, Ajay Jadeja and Spanish pop group Las Ketchup won the hearts of one and all.

DEVDAS walked away with the best actor [SRK], best actress [Aishwarya Rai], best film [Rashesh Shah, son of producer Bharat Shah, received the award] and best director [Sanjay Leela Bhansali] awards, besides the best actress in supporting role [Kiron Kher], best lyrics [Nusrat Badr] and best singer awards [Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shreya Ghosal].

While Dev Anand and Anandji [of Kalyanji-Anandji] were honoured for their outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, Rekha and Fardeen Khan were honoured with special awards.

A.R. Rahman won the best music composer award [SAATHIYA], Mohanlal the best actor in character role award [COMPANY], Mahesh Manjrekar was adjudged the best actor in comedy role [KAANTE], Sonu Nigam the best singer [SAATHIYA], Jaideep Sahni was awarded for the best story [COMPANY] and Akshaye Khanna walked away with the best actor in a negative role award [HUMRAAZ].

The best part of the evening was that the show was concise and the speeches precise, not testing the patience of the audience. Amongst the ‘acts’, it was Salman Khan’s expressions during the emotional track, ‘Tadap Tadap Ke’, which kept everyone glued to the performance [was Salman trying to convey a message to someone?].

In between the performances, the audience got a chance to witness specially made promos of MUMBAI SE AAYA MERA DOST and KHEL.

All in all, an evening to remember!
