Celebrating its success

Guess who is most thrilled with the flying start that MURDER has taken at the box-office? Of course, Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt are pleased and are grinning from ear to ear. So is Mallika Sherawat. Emraan Hashmi and Ashmit Patel are celebrating as well. Besides the names associated with the film, one more person seems to be celebrating its success. Ramgopal Varma. He’s not even remotely connected to the film, but Ramu had predicted much before the film had released that the film would take a flying start. “I had a hunch that MURDER would fare well and I am glad it has found acceptance,” RGV tells me. There is a valid reason for Ramu to rejoice. “The success of MURDER signifies that bold and daring subjects are being accepted. Its success will prompt producers to tread the untrodden path in the future,” feels RGV, whose name is synonymous with path-breaking cinema. Ashmit’s sister Amisha Patel sounds equally excited when told that the film has opened to packed houses. “I am happy for my parents and Ashmit,” she says, shooting for Vashu Bhagnani’s new film VAADA in Singapore, “I was eager to know the audience verdict and the fabulous start has come as a relief.”
