Big B,Akki for China,Singapore

It will be a clash to look forward to this Diwali. Anil Sharma, the maker of GADAR, has postponed the release date of his multi-hero project AB TUMHARE HAWALE WATAN SATHIYO to the Diwali week [November 12]. Initially scheduled for an August 15 release, the film was postponed to September subsequently, but has been re-scheduled for the Diwali week.

That’s true, the prolific maker clarifies, I’ve decided not to hurry with the post-production of the film. Had someone else produced A.T.H.W.S., I would’ve been under pressure to release the film on a date he would’ve desired. But in this case I am the boss and I don’t want to mess things up by hurrying the release.

But the real reason is that Sharma wants to look and re-look at his film before opening it worldwide. I’ll be ready with the final print next month and would want to look at the film again and again and see whether I can rectify the loose ends, if any. Under normal circumstances, the producer actually watches the final print exactly a week before its release and it’s too late by then to carry out the changes or rectify the mistakes, he avers.

Reportedly, Yash Chopra’s untitled venture, starring Big B and SRK in the cast, is also scheduled for release in Diwali. If that happens, wouldn’t the clash of two Big B films affect the prospects and cut into each other’s business?

Haven’t two or more big-budget films or those starring the same actors clashed in the same week? he asks, Har film apni kismat saath lekar aati hain. So why this hullabaloo? I am of the firm belief that in a well-populated country like ours, not just two but ten films can co-exist in a week, provided they’re well made. Point noted!
