Aziz Mirza,Rituparno Ghosh,Mani Ratnam…

ROK SAKO TO ROK LO may not have created magic at the box-office, but Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri of Planman Life is all set to bounce back with renewed vigour. Chaudhuri has just clinched a deal with Aziz Mirza’s Open Circle Productions to co-produce three films in three years. Mr. Mirza has just completed writing his first script. He plans to approach Shah Rukh for the film in question, Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee, CEO, Planman Life informs me. Planman Life has also signed celebrated Bengali film director Rituparno Ghosh to direct three films – one Bengali and two Hindi. The Bengali film, expected to roll on June 1 this year, will star Prosenjit and Konkona Sen Sharma in pivotal roles. The cast of the Hindi films is undecided, but Ritu-Da may approach Aishwarya Rai for one of the projects, Shubho enlightens. Planman Life is also in talks with Mani Ratnam for a Hindi film, although nothing is official yet. We’ve had a couple of sittings, he reveals. Besides Aziz Mirza, Rituparno Ghosh and Mani Ratnam, Planman Life has decided to entrust the directorial reins of yet another film to Anjan Das, who is already directing a Bengali film, FALTU [starring Soumitro Chatterjee, Indrani Haldar, Yash, Manjari], for the production house. FALTU is currently 70% complete. Of course, Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri will also direct a Hindi film this year, which is currently being scripted by Habib Faisal. We plan to produce at least six films each year, starting this year, a charged Shubho states.
