Another Mallika Myth

Yet another Indian film is making news abroad. And its a low-budget film (budgeted at Rs. 10 lacs) and shot in 6 days flat. The film in question, DRIVING MISS PALMEN, has been directed by Shashi Ranjan and if the newspaper reviews are anything to go by, the film has hit the headlines in Holland. The film tells the story of some real-life celebrities from the upper crust of Dutch society. A path-breaking attempt, it tackles a bold theme and has been treated with the sensitivity it deserves. Also, a film like this explores new horizons and its success will trigger off a series of short films, keeping the international audience in mind.

The film stars Indian names in the cast and the performances that stand out even after the film has ended are that of Lilette Dubey, Barkha Madan, Rohit Roy and Jignesh. The end of the film is unconventional and Shashi deserves full marks for tackling a theme that is alien for us Indians.
