Akshay produces documentary titled White Knight

Akshay ‘Khiladi’ Kumar, after exploring the divine route in his latest flick OMG Oh My God! is now all set to ignite a new cause that he is passionate about. And the resultant is White Knight, a documentary about the effects of global warming. The film, talks about the effects of global warming, is about Chewang Norphel of Leh, who makes artificial glaciers to conserve water for those living in high-altitude areas. The film is produced by Akshay Kumar.

The documentary, that has been directed by Aarti Shrivastava, has been sent not only to various international film festivals, but will also be screened at the South Asian Film Festival in Canada and the Indian Film Festival in Houston. Talking to Bollywood Hungama about the documentary, Aarti says, “The documentary talks about the receding glaciers and how it is affecting places like Ladakh and other like areas.” When asked about how the whole project came about, she replies, “I have been working on lot of these global issues. Akshay, who knew about it, had shared this idea with me. He thought that I will be able to do justice to the subject.”

Speaking of Akshay as a producer, Aarti says, “He is a great producer and a humble human being who understands these issues. Documentaries like these become a means to make people aware of the situation that arises due to global warming.”

Meanwhile, Akshay said that natural glaciers melt faster because of global warming, thus resulting in people living in higher altitudes facing acute water crisis till the formation of new glaciers. And that’s why Chewang Norphel started conserving water by making artificial glaciers for them. He added that Chewang is the only man in the world to create artificial glaciers. He also added that Chewang, who understands the importance of water in this region, has tried to tackle the challenge of global warming so much so that he has even dedicated his life to it. He has to his credit the merit of making 10 glaciers and dreams of reaching 100.

Akshay, who is extremely pleased with the response of White Knight at the film festivals, strongly feels that ‘this documentary can become the basis for further action’.
