Aankhen script is the main Hero:

Sushmita Sen is eagerly looking forward to the release of AANKHEN. The former Miss Universe sounds more than excited at the very mention of the film. It was the taut script that really got me to sign on the dotted line. I knew I had to do this film, says Sushmita. Sush plays the central character in the film, that of Neha Srivastava, whose unique talent becomes her dreaded enemy. “I play a teacher in a blind school who has been appointed to train three blind guys, who are supposed to rob a bank,” she describes her role in the film, continuing in the same vein, “I underwent proper training before accepting the role. I even visited some of the blind schools and met the teachers.” It must be noted that Sush hadn’t seen the Gujarati play ANDHALO PAATO before she accepted the role. According to sources, she was a bit hesitant while accepting the film, mainly because the director had no experience of a Hindi film before. But once she started shooting, her opinion changed. Vipul (the director of AANKHEN) is an extremely talented guy. He knows his job well,” she states. Unfortunately for Sush, her last few films BAS ITNA SA KHWAAB HAI, KYO KII MAIN JHUTH NAHIN BOLTA, FILHAAL and TUMKO NA BHOOL PAAYENGE haven’t fared well at the box-office, though the critics as well as the hoi polloi appreciated her performances in a couple of them. “I am an artist. My job is to act. The box-office outcome is not in my hands, she states candidly. She continues in the same breath, I’m sure people will understand and accept a film like FILHAAL after a decade. But I’m glad people liked my work in the film. On the other hand, I knew I had a limited role in T.N.B.P., but, I must admit, I did the film for Gordhan-ji (producer Gordhan Tanwani) and Salman. Sush has now decided to take up less work because she is sick of watching myself in television promos. I don’t want to get overexposed. After AANKHEN, there will be a big gap till my next film releases,” she says. Her forthcoming films include a project with SRK (Farah Khan’s directorial debut) and a film for Gordhan Tanwani. Here’s hoping that the former Miss Universe delivers yet another ‘eye’-opening performance in AANKHEN.
