Rock On!! is not about some silly bunch of guys forming a band. It's more. This is a film which deals mainly with the emotions, feelings and trying to keep jamming. Rock On!! is a nice experience for once. 2nd or 3rd time you watch, you get bored.
Rock On!! tells the story of a Rock band called Magik. The members are Aditya Schroff(Farhan Akthar) lead vocalist and guitar, Joseph Mascerenhas(Arjun Rampal) on Lead Guitar, KD A.K.A Killer Drummer(Purab Kohli) on drums and Rob Nancy(Luke Kenny) on keyboard. Rob is the mastermind of them. He programs everything, sets the tunes and tells what and when to play.
This starts of with the band performing Socha Hain live and Farhan shows he is a pathetic singer with this. Moving on, they are all seperated. Farhan is an insurance man, who is cold hearted, emotionless and silly in life issues and not to mention isolated guy living with his wife Sakshi Schroff(Prachi Desai) who feels like she is living with a stranger! KD is an employee at a watch business store but both Rob and Joe still remain in music! Joe plays his guitar at functions and KD is still a recorder. Well then as fate transpires and KD and Sakshi meet at the store where KD works. She buys her hubby a present and KD asks her about him after hearing the B'date and the name. But when asked, Aditya says no, so she thinks it's over. She snoops around the house and finds pic's of the band. She know's the story after watching a cassette. There is a reunion, Aditya still is isolated and Blah Blah Blah!
Overall Rock On!! is an emotion ride all the way. For those who are true at heart, Rock On!! works magic. In the end, the product is amazing albeit the sad ending of it. They perform the only 3 likeable songs on stage(Pichle Saat Dinon Mein, Sindbad The Sailor and Socha Hain) SEL's music is great, yet Farhan Akthar is worse than having a little kid sing.
Farhan has a decent debut, Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli's performance is to good to be put in words. Nicolette Bird and Shahana Goswami also put in neat performances but Prachi Desai was great alongside Farhan bhai. Koel Purie also chips in with a decent showing alongside Purab Kohli. Screenplay(Abhishek Kapoor) and Dialogues(Farhan Akthar) are good, the lighting and Cinematography(Jason West) were rather bad but the script is unbeatable. Overall Rock On!! has a boring first half but a very good and emotional 2nd half that glues you to your seats!
This can do well in the metro's and in Foreign countries, this is surely gonna Rock On!!

The poor lighting and Rampal's moustache :D
