critics be damned, for all those die hard MD fans like me, aaja nachle is an enchanting experience. extremely well made and enacted with superb technical support, this one is entertaining but one needs patience, a taste for music, drama, dance and poetry to sit through this film especially the films awesome laila majnu episode which comes towards the last 25 minutes. madhuri dixit is incredible as ever, age shows but her unmatched grace and dignity wins u over completely. just watch her dance..a slight twirl or even the lift of an eyebrow..no wonder madhuri is still considered a diva and even makes it to the no.2 at the sexiest asian women list. the supporting cast are delightful.. ranvir shorey plays the loser aashiq with such subtle finesse that ur heart goes out to him.. then theres konkona sen, unarguably so natural even while playing a dumb village belle..kunal kapoor adds another feather in his cap with this role..his chiselled features and baritone are awesome. then theres vinay pathak..who is restrained and endearing. akshaye khanna and irfan khan manage to hold their own in neat cameos. vaibhavi merchants vibrant choreography, mohanans breezy camera work, manish malhotras costumes are trademark yashraj technical plusses. salim suleiman come up with a score that grows on you slowly but barring the dhamkedaar title track with mds trademark jhatkas none of the songs register..but the songs are woven beautifully into the movie and spur the scenes forward. good work by debut director anil mehta and his team.

What I liked about the movie:
madhuri dixit, all the supporting actors< notably ranvir shorey, vinay pathak and konkona sen>, the high energy title track, the basic theme of saving fine fine arts, the techincal spects of the movie etc.

What I didn't like about the movie:
madhuris struggle to get the village of shamli together to save ajanta seems done easily and one cannot understand how opulent sets popped up in the arid and deserted ajanta..add to it the well toned sophisticated looking dancers in the laila majnu drama. madhuris introduction with the dance with me number ws plain ordinary..this song was the weakest song in the whole album.. madhuri deserved a better introduction in her comeback vehicle..also the flash back scenes are too abrupt and u dont feel sorry for single mom madhuri who has lost the support of her family, friends and township.

Would you recommend this movie to your friend: Yes
