Dostana for Karan seems to be more of a truth and dare game rather than friendship, compassion and love. Dostana doesn’t seem to be a convincing fare. Theme is interesting and so is the movie but only in parts. Movie revolved around Abhishek and John who pretend to be gay for getting a house and immigration permit, they become friends with their flat mate Priyanka who is a budding fashion magazine editor, then comes the Man-Bobby who wants to marry Priyanka but so do Abhishek and John so they try all that they can to stop the marriage finally they disgust their friend and part and then apologize and prove that they can be good gays to be friend with Priyanka and convince Bobby to marry Priyanka. End of the movie. Movie is well shot and stylized and is a treat to eyes. But that’s all. Script is not good enough; second half is really boring and uninteresting. Out of the songs only one song makes you feel amused- maa da ladla(Don’t be surprised that’s not because of music, it’s because of Kirron Kher). As far as performances are concerned, John is better than Abhishek or Priyanka, but who stand out are the supporting characters- Kirron Kher, Boman Irani and Sushmita Mukharjee. They give the best moments to the movie. On the whole I didn’t like the movie.
Dostana: A respected name in bollywood, one of all time wonders made by a reputed production house and then comes another ’Dostana’, which claims to be a trendsetter. Is it really one???
