Its a big movie with so many stars and good songs....and even if a few stories are good..i think that would be worth the money. But the movie is even much more than that.
After reading many mixed reviews from the critics and indiafm readers, my expectations went quite down. Still i saw it in the theatre today and came out more than satisfied.
I don't know why there's so much negative publicity going on for the movie-- people are hell bent in pulling down the movie.
Songs are great, there a lot of comedy and entertainment and most stars do their job fine. Well, i'm not saying the movie is exceptional..but its a decent entertainer.
Anil-Juhi 's track is probably the best along with Govinda-Shannon. Both veterans Anil and Juhi pitch in excellent performances and theirs is the most mature story. Govinda is bang on...he entertains thoroughly, and has a very mature performance too. If you didn't like him in bhagam bhag, he's in form now. There are some nice momemts with Shannon.
Sohail-Isha are there in just 5 scenes, but each time they appear, you're guaranteed a laugh, even if its a bit over-the-top.
Akshay is good as usual , Ayesha is cute, and though their story is nothing new or special, its good and certain scenes are really good.
The John-Vidya story is a little different from the rest..and Vidya is fantastic. John is his usual cool self. Its only the Salman-Priyanka track that seems to irritate a bit and is not too good. Add to that their average acting. But in the 2nd half things improve considerably in their track, and both are quite good. Watch out for Salman in the scene near the London bridge, and Priyanka in the scene with Anil at the pub. Both are quite good.
Another good thing is the way the 6 stories run parallely and they switch from one to the next. Thats a first for hindi cinema and done really well...kudos to Nikhil Advani. Also the way he gets 6 screens in 1 is cool!!!
I think many people have got confused with this and not been able to follow the stories too well..but thats what makes it different!
Besides , the connections leading to the climax where many of the characters meet each other is interesting to watch. Besides, the climax , though predictable is quite entertaining. Watch out for Govinda, Shannon in the climax scene.
Infact, with 6 parallel stories running, you don't quite feel the film's length..which is nearly 3 1/2 hrs and not 4 hrs as being propagated by many.
Songs are among the best in recent times especially the title track and 'Ya Rabba'
All in all a decent entertainer.. definitely worth a dekho atleast once -- in the theatre.
I wish they had included 'Mera Dil' too as it was a lovely song.
Don't trust the reviews and go by your own instincts and watch the movie.
What I liked about the movie:
Anil - Juhi's mature and powerful performances,
Govinda - shannon track , John- Vidya track, Akshay's interesting performance, cute Ayesha, sohail-isha's short but funny scenes, salman-priyanka in the 2nd half......even Anjana Sukhani was cool.
Wonderful songs, esp the title track and 'ya rabba'.......
The switching from one track to the other is done really well, the multiple screen effect.
And finally the hilarious and emotional climax.
What I didn't like about the movie:
Salman and Priyanka in the initial portions.
