Ismail Darbar picks it up from where he left Devdas.
A complete facsimile, Saawariya has nothing special, for me at least. On the other hand, the songs follow a particular genre and sticks to a passionate romantic mood throughout.
I am sure the complement the dramatic sets of SLB. Ismail Darbar gives what SLB wants. The music in itself is melodramatic. Why not here Devdas' songs then.
Also, I found Monty somewhere back in 70's. Maybe that is also a part of the storyline. he could have done a lot better.
Lyrics are nothing what one accepts from an SLB film.
