KABUL EXPRESS EXPRESS'S EXCELLENCE!!!
Kabul Express has phenominal music that should be heard over and over. I love the incorporation of the guitar in songs like Kabul Fiza, Kahe Raha Mera Dil, and Yeh Mein Aaya Kahan Hoon. I found Raghav Sachar's voice to be very new and contemporary. Its a voice thats new and different which gives these songs their beauty. Title track - Kabul Fiza! What a track - it has the same fresh feel as Robaroo from did in Rang De Basanti but its beat, melody, and of course Raghav's voice distinguishes it from other songs. The punch in this song where you are in the full flush of the song is the araibic/qaawali part which begins something like "Khuda ke bande ho tum..." Its remix is a good way to put Kabul Fiza on the dance floor, and even though theme songs don't receive much credit usually, the theme song for Kabul Fiza wasn't bad at all - it was a karaoke for me. So you can put your voice in place of Raghav Sachar's. Next Song is Banjar which should go into the khanjar. This song is dark mark on this album. The tune is ok, but its all about the fast beat and Sunidhi Chauhan's voice is not doing any good. Moving on to Kahe Raha Mera Dil - this song's beauty comes from its melody which has a beautiful flow to it as it gradually transitions from high notes, to medium, to low notes. And the tabla does wonders for this song. I play the guitar - so this song is a treat to play it on the guitar. Where some parts add a youthfull openness and freshness to the songs, low notes bring in its warmth - making this track the favorite one in the album. Next comes Yeh Main Aaya Kahan Hoon - not wanting anyone to mistake that this song resembles any of the other tracks in this album - but the compliments it receives from me are similar to Kahe Raha Mera Dil. It has a youthfullness to it and a newness to its tune. The tune is distinct and the flute also makes a great contribution to the song. I was about to give it a 4.5/5 because one must look at this album in totality and Banjar - original verson - is not that great. But giving it such a grade would degrade the value of the other tracks in the album. So I give it a full 5/5!!!
