A R Rahman = Soul stirring music.

JA(Jodhaa Akbar) is the most keenly anticipated movies for 2008 and probably the first mega release this year. The music was delayed due to several disputes with music companies. The music is finally out. Does it meet the expectations ?? Is A R Rahman back with a bang? Lets see...
Azeem-o-shaan Shehanshah opens and you know that the first track of JA will be a musical extravaganza. It certainly is a creative song and ends up being a great listen as the song ends. The song will be a delight to watch on screen and will gain more popularity then. Watch out for the musical intervals with great orchestra. So far a good start for JA. 4/5
ARR has always been a great composer when it came to a love song. He has composed great songs in the past. Now you can add two more to that list. First one " In Lamhon ke darmiyan" is one helluva listen. The chorus and the main singers Sonu Nigam and Madhushree do a splendid job. 4.5/5
The second love song "Jashn-e-Bahara" is a masterpiece and ranks as one of the best songs of the album. Javed Ali surprises with a perfect rendition. Ali sounds like Sonu Nigam at parts but stands apart. The song rocks and how! 5/5
So far so good, but there is one thing missing. ARR singing himself. He was brilliant in Yeh Jo Des hai from Swades but he goes one step forward with his soulful qawali/sufi song "Khwaja Mere Khwaja". The song is a mix of qawali with a lot of sufiyana type singing. ARR does an excellent job mixing tabla and santoor and creates an amazing composition. Not to be missed! This song will be one of the high points in the movie. 5/5
There is a devotional track "Man Mohana' by Bela. With a great voice clarity and excellent rendition, Bela impresses. The song is situational and will be a treat to see Aishwarya singing to Kanhiya. 3.5/5
There are two instrumental tracks for Jashn-e-bahara and Khwaja and both are outstanding piece of work.
Ending with JA theme which is composed with a lot of creativity.
Overall, JA album impresses in a big way. Expectations rises for the movie with an excellent soundtrack like this.
