Anything in oversupply is bad. And that applies to everything, skin show included!
If you thought MURDER, HAWAS, TAUBA TAUBA, JULIE and SHEESHA were sleaze fest, then you've got to watch FUN - CAN BE DANGEROUS SOMETIMES. Bolder, raunchier, cruder, sleazier... Well, you run out of adjectives when you watch this flick.
FUN - CAN BE DANGEROUS SOMETIMES comes at a time when there's a rampage of skin show in films, ads, videos, talent hunts, everywhere. And with so much skin on display in FUN - CAN BE DANGEROUS SOMETIMES, you really look for a respite.
One doesn't mind skin flicks or sex-laden scenes as long as the director films it aesthetically, but the way director Sanjay S. Zaveri displays the woman's anatomy, it's distasteful, vulgar and appalling. The sole purpose of the film is sleazy titillation for the hoi polloi.
In a nutshell, FUN - CAN BE DANGEROUS SOMETIMES doesn't excite at all!
Natasha [Payal Rohatgi], Phalguni and Urmila are fun-loving married women who strongly believe that you live only once and should enjoy life to the optimum.
But Phalguni and Urmila have a major problem with their husbands as they have become indifferent to their sexual needs and have no time for them. Natasha, on the other hand, has no problem with her husband Aryan [Siddharth Koirala] because she always gives him surprises. She believes that after a point of time every marriage becomes stale, so one has to make efforts to keep it alive and fresh.
To revive their lives and fulfil their desires, Natasha suggests that Urmila and Phalguni swap their husbands. Initially, the duo is shocked, but when Natasha explains to them how to go about it, they agree.
The three women reach a resort with their husbands to celebrate the New Year nite. On the very first day, they decide who would be paired with whom. But in the lucky draw, Natasha is left with her own husband. Phalguni and Urmila put in their best efforts to seduce each other's husbands and succeed.
During their stay at the resort, the group comes across a girl, Megha [Heena Rehman]. Aryan gets attracted to Megha and in a very subtle way Natasha encourages their relationship and pretends as if she doesn't mind it.
But Aryan is surprised when he learns that Megha is married to a wealthy man, Raj [Aryan Vaid], who too arrives at the resort. Aryan also gets to know that Megha and Raj have a strained relationship.
As the New Year nite approaches, strange things begin to happen. Megha receives messages from an anonymous person who claims to be her lover. The couple doesn't take the threats seriously until there is an attack on Raj's life. Fortunately, he survives.
But, finally, during the New Year eve, Megha is found dead. There is chaos in the hotel. The police investigate and find out that Aryan was with Megha minutes before she was killed. Since all evidence point towards Aryan, he is arrested. But is he the real culprit?
The basic idea of FUN - CAN BE DANGEROUS SOMETIMES -- husband swapping -- is indeed novel, but the way the women in the film go about it looks completely obnoxious.
Every possible situation in the film focuses on sex. And the women go all out, dressed in the skimpiest of outfits, to bare their assets. The film suddenly turns into a murder mystery in the post-interval portions, but even that has been handled amateurishly. In fact, the finale is not only predictable, but even its execution leaves a lot to be desired.
Director Sanjay S. Zaveri seems to have gone overboard in depicting skin. Sanjeev-Darshan's musical score is passable, with 'Jal Raha Hai Badan' being the pick of the lot. Cinematography [Mahendra Rayan] is functional.
Siddharth Koirala needs a crash course in acting. He doesn't have the looks of a hero either. Aryan Vaid needs to go easy on his expressions. He runs through his part mechanically. Payal Rohatgi livens up the proceedings with a spirited performance. Heena Rehman has a Meena Kumari hang up. Also, her makeup sense is atrocious. Rajat Bedi does a decent job, although he looks less of a cop and more of a model.
On the whole, FUN - CAN BE DANGEROUS SOMETIMES is high on the sex quotient, but low on script. At the box-office, a poor show.
