Anas Films' DIL NE PHIR YAAD KIYA, directed by Rajat Rawail, is, to an extent, inspired by Yash Chopra's DOOSRA AADMI.

Rahul Khanna (Vinay Anand) is a wealthy guy who falls in love with an equally rich girl on a tour to Mauritius, Sonia Chopra (Pooja Batra), and subsequently gets married. Rahul starts an advertising firm in Delhi and needs a top model for his campaign. He zeroes in on Roshni Batra (Tabu).

When Rahul approaches her with the offer, Roshni accepts it instantly. Slowly, Roshni starts falling in love with Rahul because she sees her dead lover, Prem (Govinda), in him.

Roshni's obsession touches its pinnacle and the only conclusion to her obsession is her end. What happens next?

The basic idea bears a striking resemblance to DOOSRA AADMI, but the director seems to be inspired by several other films as well. The first few reels, in fact, have shades of BOMBAY TO GOA and the other major scenes seem to be inspired from earlier hits. For instance, the scene when Pooja Batra gets drunk and spends the night with Vinay Anand, reminds you of DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE.

The biggest flaw of the film is that the script is a hotpotch of scenes inspired from various films. Even otherwise, the director has taken a lot of cinematic liberties. In another instance, the reasons for Tabu wanting to commit suicide are not established. The romance between Vinay Anand and Pooja Batra is least convincing.

Another drawback of the enterprise is that it has been promoted as a Govinda starrer, but the actor is hardly there in the film. In fact, Govinda's characterisation is vague and his background is not even defined. As such, Govinda fans will be in for a big disappointment.

The music (Adesh Shrivastava) is pleasant, but the picturisation is not. Besides, it does not excite you considering the fact that the music promos have been on air since the past several months. Editing is loose. Dialogues are sub-standard. Cinematography is okay.

Performance-wise, Vinay Anand seems to be heavily inspired by Govinda. Tabu looks miscast in the role of a model and appears to be disinterested in the goings-on. Pooja Batra does not impress.

On the whole, DIL NE PHIR YAAD KIYA is a non-starter.
