Media Factory's DREAMS is a love story, with cinema as the backdrop.
It tells the story of a successful director Shekhar [Aashish Chanana], who is linked to an actress, Simran [Arzoo Govitrikar], who loves Shekhar unconditionally.
One night, Shekhar meets Pooja [Neha Pendse], a small-town girl. He hears her horrifying tale and decides to make a film on her life and also casts her as the leading lady.
Sensing that the film is a nonviable proposition, Shekhar's financiers back out, but he overcomes the problems and completes the film. Luckily, the film turns out to be a big hit. Eventually, he falls in love with Pooja and after overcoming the odds, they decide to get married.
DREAMS has an interesting plot, but by stretching the story unnecessarily, the impact gets diluted to an extent. Also, from the writing point of view, it leaves a lot to be desired. The last half-an-hour should've been more impactful, but it's not!
Direction [Aashish] is ordinary. The music [Sajid-Wajid] is decent, although the placement of songs could've been better. Cinematography [Rajkumar] is good.
Aashish Chanana is fair. Neha Pendse gives a good account of herself. Harish Patel leaves a mark. Arzoo Govitrikar and Manoj Bidvai are just about okay.
On the whole, DREAMS, which has been released without much hype and in the midst of biggies, will face an uphill task.
