Socha Na Tha introduces the new Deol to the big screen. Abhay Deol is the nephew of Dharmendra and cousin of Sunny and Bobby Deol. Cast opposite him is the Taarzan girl Ayesha Takia. Directed by debutante Imtiaz Ali, Socha Na Tha is produced by Dharmendra and has music by Sandesh Shandilya.

Everyone wants Viren (Abhay Deol) to marry Aditi (Ayesha Takia). Everything matches between them… caste, family, status and stars but Viren cannot marry Aditi. He tells her in private that he is seeing a catholic girl called Karen for three years. He wants to marry Karen and has not told anyone about it. Aditi and Viren decide that Viren will refuse the marriage with Aditi.

There is a furore in the two families. The refusal causes an ego tiff and severe fights between them.

Meanwhile, Viren continues to court Karen and proposes to her. She agrees. He meets her parents and they agree. But his parents are not about to agree. How can he get married to a Catholic?

In the ensuing chaos, he continues to meet Aditi. He bumps into her first, then they plan to meet and they meet again. They like to meet each other. There are no strings attached…they do not have to impress each other. He can be himself with her and she can say what she wants. Each time they meet, they think it is the last time they are meeting.

And in a dramatic turn around, Viren realizes that he is in love with Aditi.

In another dramatic turn around, Viren's family agree to accept Karen as their daughter-in-law.

Now Viren is trapped in his own plan. What happens next?
