After the super-success of Tere Naam , the team of producers Mukesh Talreja – Sunil Manchanda , stars Salman Khan, Bhumika Chawla, musician Himesh Reshammiya and lyricist Sameer join hands once again in Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa . Salman Khan's brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri (who didn't had a very successful career as an actor) turns director with this film. Music maestro A.R. Rehman also composes 3 tracks for the film.

This, in short, sums up for the theme of the film.

Rishabh ( Salman Khan ) is a partner in an upcoming media company while Pari ( Preity Zinta ) is a doctor. Both are intensely in love with each other. They have vowed to work hard to build a life of their dreams.

They seem destined to live happily ever after, but fate intervenes. Pari has a fatal accident. Suddenly, Rishabh is all alone. He is devastated. He cannot handle this shattering loss. The four walls that once symbolized their love become a fortress of trapped memories for him.

What stops him from being sucked into a whirlpool of depression is but one slender thread – he has still to fulfil Pari's wish – to build a charitable hospital for the poor.

Life takes an unexpected turn for Rishabh when he meets Dhani.

Dhani ( Bhumika Chawla ) has seen such darkness in her life, that she well realizes the importance of enjoying the smallest of joys that life may throw her way.

People make her tick and she likes to dwell a little deeper than usual to search for the real person. She has understood how difficult it is to make people comfortable.

Unlike as they are, the forces of nature prevail and Rishabh and Dhani are drawn to each other.

Rishabh gets a new lease of life. He instinctively feels that whatever was missing in his life will be restored to him.

For Dhani, this is the first experience of falling in love and living life to its fullest.

Dancing in the rain, running hard so she could feel the wind kiss her cheek, swimming, curling up in the winter… she wants to do it all and even makes up a wish list.

For Rishabh, love means loneliness and pain…love for him is a constant reminder of Pari who he will never forget.

Still he reaches out to Dhani only to uncover a harsh and shocking reality. Once again, Rishabh is shattered. He finds himself at the crossroads of life. One road leads him to depression and pain – to being the person he became after Pari's death. The other road – to accept a decision that involves extraordinary grace and compassion…

The film also stars Helen, Rati Agnihotri, Aasif Sheikh and Renuka Shahane while Riya Sen makes a special appearance.
