Julie is a story of a rich tycoon, Mihir Shandilya (Priyanshu Chatterjee), a multi millionaire bachelor, who at a very young age is an icon of the new age India.
A television channel invites celebrities for their programs, and Mihir Shandilya is being interviewed today. He talks about his success story to the host of the program. On being questioned on his potential life partner, Mihir confesses his love life on a recorded program that yes, there is a woman in his life to whom he wants to propose marriage. The host respects his views and invites them both for the show.
Mihir, who is on a business trip abroad, wants Julie (Neha Dhupia) to accept him as her husband, and expects an answer in affirmative once he is back. Julie, on the other hand, is unnerved by the program, and wants to be on the same program, and talk about herself to the viewers. The reason is simple. She wants to confess that she is a Prostitute by profession, a fact that Mihir, and his family members are unaware of.
She had all the happiness that any girl of her age could dream to have. However, destiny had surprises up its sleeve. Calamity struck Julie's love. Neil left her in the lurch for better personal prospects. He made the choice between reality and love. When he made this decision known to Julie, she had just one thing to say, 'Love means to forgive. Its possible that you do not deserve my love, or may be something better is in store for me.... GOOD BYE.'
She had to be independent, Julie decided, in her endeavor to start life afresh. She decided to shift her roots to erase her painful memories of Goa.
Julie came to the city, where her childhood friend, Dinky, stayed and worked as an airhostess. Thanks to Dinky, Julie got a secretarial job in the corporate world, where she met a colleague Rohan, a handsome and enterprising young man. The two of them became close friends. Julie found an anchor in Rohan (Sanjay Kapoor), who however surprised her one-day by proposing marriage.
The two started dreaming of a better life, things started settling down for Julie but Rohan's lifestyle was different. He believed to climb the ladder of success, any steps taken were right, even if it involved extremes like offering somebody to sleep with his fianc?
However, Julie did not share Rohan's values. Shocked and dismayed, there was an identity crisis for her in terms of her clash with the values espoused by Rohan. Julie was left alone again, this time in the concrete jungle to where she had moved to find a new meaning in her life. The two men whom she fell in love with, had cheated with her emotions. Until she met Mihir Shandilya who fell in love with her with no personal agendas.
At last, the show began with a live audience. As the show commenced, the viewers were highly emotional for a girl, who did not go on air for publicity or to malign the Shandilya family.
Mihir, who had rushed back to be at the show, was amazed that his lover had confessed about her life so publicly, and after his initial indignation, had only one thing to say, 'If you truly love then set it free because if its meant to be, it shall come back to you.' Addressing to the live audience, he emotionally requests permission to stand to his next to-be wife, and thereafter implores his entire family, on camera, to let him hold the hand of their to-be daughter-in-law.
The response is overwhelming. Mihir's family, the media, the audience, the people watching the show in their homes, and on the streets, are overcome by an emotional outpouring by Mihir Shandilya's decision of wanting to marry a prostitute.
Julie finally has found her true love that is willing to stand by her under any circumstances, with no selfish motive of his own other than his true love for her.
The film directed by Deepak Shivdasani and produced by Babloo Pachisia has music by Himesh Reshammiya.
Julie will hit the screens on July 23.
