The film is based on the legendary love story of Hyderabad, India between Prince Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah and his ardent love, the beauteous Bhaggmati, born of ordinary origins. Their love transcended all boundaries even as they knew that the path of true love was one studded with thorns. Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah was known for his artistic and poetic bent of mind and was equally brave in the battle. Bhagmati was known for her beauty and generosity of spirit. These two unforgettable characters shaped the destiny of this great city through their undying love for each other.

Hyderabad has been a city of culture, heritage and tradition. Quli Qutb Shah fought the forces that wanted to dismantle the communal harmony in the state. He was a builder too. Charminar stands today in the heart of Hyderabad as a monument of his love and devotion.
