After Sanjay Leela Bansali's classic 'Black' that dealt with the life of deaf and blind character, V R Entertainment PVT Ltd's 'Rain' is the continuation of the subject since it talks about a girl who is born blind. Produced by Vinod Bachchan under his banner Soundrya Productions, Amol Shetge moors the belts to write and direct this outing. Rain features famous model turned actor Himanshu Malik (who is still trying to make his standing in Bollywood) and sex goddess Meghna Naidu (this sultry lass is struggling a lot to make her mark amongst the leading ladies of the Hindi cinema) in the pivotal roles.
The film tells the story of Sandhya Bhatnagar (Meghna Naidu) who is born blind. This valiant girl with steep grit and determination has fought against all odds and managed to become a celebrated writer. She lives in a bungalow, which stands alone amidst the wilderness of a hill station. Loving solitude, Sandhya spends most of her time on her Braille typewriter typing stories, which are based on the tough realities of life.
One day a journalist Prakash (Himanshu Malik) calls her for an appointment for the interview. She gives him affirmation and calls him over. Before he arrives at her abode, she starts picking up knives and hiding them in different places in the house. This creates doubts as to what is the motive behind this hiding and the sanity of this gorgeous, lonely gal? What would happen to Prakash when he enters the place? Fortunately nothing untoward takes place upon his arrival. The interview goes on slickly till the topic of rain oozes out of the talks casually. Prakash learns that Sandhya has a strange fear - the fear of rain. The mention of rain makes her nervous and tense. She also gets frantic and goes utterly insane when the rain actually starts pouring. Prakash now tries to find out what is the thing that makes her suffer from this strange phobia. While he is on way to know the fact, he begins to love her. After plenty of twists and turns, he succeeds in uncovering the root cause of this phobia.
What does Prakash discovers? Is it her horrifying past that is connected to rain? Or there is something else, which scares her from rain? Will Prakash be able to help her overcome this fear of rain?
To know the answers, wait for this suspense-filled fare. Rain is perhaps the first Hindi film that focuses on the subject of phobia in such a depth.
The other credits include Praveen Bhardwaj who notates the lyrics and Satish-Ajay who score the music. Rekha Chinni Prakash choreographs the dance sequences. Ishwar Bidri is the cinematographer.
The movie will hit the theaters very soon.
