Good news for those who wanted to see Tejaswini Kolhapore on big screen!! She will be finally be making her debut with Daylight Production's 'STOP', after having waited endlessly for 'long stuck in the cans' - 'Paanch'. STOP also marks the debut of director Ajai Sinha, who is the man behind the immensely successful TV serial ' Astitva '. If 'STOP' turns out to be as emotionally told story as ' Astitva ', then half the battle is already won for Laxman Bhatia, the maker of the movie. Starring Rocky Bhatia in the lead role with Tejaswini Kolhapore, Ishita Arun (who had a low key debut in ' Kahan Ho Tum ') and Gauri Karnik ( Sur, Prarambh ) it is the story of four friends who live together and share each other's joys and sorrows. Dia Mirza and Kiran Jhanjhani ( Oops! ) form the rest of the cast. Vishal Shekhar, who have two consecutive musical successes ' Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao ' and ' Musafir ' to their credit compose while Kumaar, Panchhi Jalonvi and Vishal write.
Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan begin the album with a yuppy discotheque number ' Nachle '. A case of ' Koi Kahe ' (Dil Chahta Hai) meeting ' It's the time to Disco ' (KHNH), it is elevated by jazzy choreography, energetic performances and youthful appeal. A good foot-tapping track that also has a Remix following after a couple of tracks!! The remix has a bit of different arrangement and works well again.
The album takes a complete turn here with two sober thoughtful songs in succession. ' Meri Kahani ' is an emotionally charged rendition by Sonu Nigam who succeeds yet again in this beautiful love song. This subdued number has some nice-n-cool melody while the lyrics are different from the usual lot. The same holds good for Jagjit Singh's ghazal ' Dil Tarasta Hai ' that take you to an altogether different mood. Again, a good rendition backed by soulful music and thoughtful lyrics (Panchhi Jalonvi).
Kunal Ganjawala's title song ' STOP ' takes you back to the peppy mood created by ' Nachle ' in the beginning. A fun song about youth liberation and their aspiration, it doesn't stand out completely from other such youth oriented songs but does well in establishing the theme of the movie.
Conclusion of the album comes with situational track ' Abhi Nahi Aur Kabhi ' that is a picturized on the four friends and their moments while they stay together. Sung by Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mahalaxmi Iyer and Sowmya Raoh, it is written by Vishal whose lyrics provide a good fun element. A peppy number again, it is of the kind that you enjoy more while you watch on screen.
STOP is an enjoyable album that has a mix of some peppy and sober numbers. It may not exactly set the music charts on fire but will do well for those who want to listen to some lively music to relax and get back in the groove!
