Two shining stars to which Bollywood is taking notice recently - Dino Morea and Sanjay Suri, costar in their third film together after 'Pyaar Mein Kabhie Kabhie' and 'Plan'. The movie is 'Insaaf - The Justice' which stars Namrata Shirodkar and Heena as the lead heroines and is directed by debutante Shrey Shrivastav (Welcome to the group of ever increasing debutante directors!) and produced by Mohammed Fasih. Since the music company is T-Series, expect their blue-eyed boys Nikhil Vinay to compose the music and Sameer be at the writing desk!
Expect the 'expected' when you know Nikhil Vinay are in charge of the music department for a T-Series album. So what follows is a stream of romantic tracks that mainly follow the good-old Indian melody. 'Insaaf' begins with 'Tujhe Pyaar Itna' by Sonu Nigam and Anuradha Paudwal that is decent to hear but is certainly not amongst the chart-buster category. A fair number, it falls under the 'come and go' bracket!
'Chunri Lehrayi To', another duet by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik is not too great either and takes the album back by one step. An ordinary composition, weak choreography, ordinary costumes and local locations just make it a forgettable number. Instrumentals of both 'Tujhe Pyaar Itna' and 'Chunri Lehrai To' also feature in this album but fail to make much impression since the songs themselves are not too great either. Doesn't seem that anyone may really be enthusiastic to sing along with these instrumentals!
'Chane Ke Khet Mein' borrows heavily from the 'bhojpuri' compositions and is a definite item track in the villain's den. A raunchy number, it is certainly not a welcome addition to the clan of such songs. Sapna Awasthi surprisingly sounds off-pitch in the better part of the track that turns out to be an assault to the ears as the song progresses. Can't blame Nikhil Vinay for this as no other composer could have composed a number of this genre any differently!
'Nazar Ka Milaana Mohabbat Hai, Nazar Ka Jhukaana Mohabbat Hai' - these are some of the golden words sung by Udit Narayan and Anuradha Paudwal in this 'zillion times heard' composition that fails to get noticed. A typical tune, though sung well, seems to be yet another 'ready-to-serve' product of T-Series music bank! 'Tumse Milna', a duet by the same singers, though not a great composition again, is still marginally better than 'Nazar Ka Milaana'. But as said earlier, it is predictable and won't be lapped up by the audience.
Best number of the album is kept for the end. And by best we do not mean something as a trendsetter but a number that is the best that 'Insaaf' offers. The number is yet again duet by Udit Narayan and Anuradha Paudwal - 'Dekha Hai Maine To Pehli Baar'. A love song again like all the other tracks of the albums, it is elevated mainly due to good vocals of Udit Narayan which are still fresh as ever and (thankfully) do not show any signs of aging. Better locations for the picturization could have bettered the prospects of this number.
In all, Nikhil Vinay go one step back after some really good tunes they did for Tum Bin and Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai. Much was expected from them in Insaaf-The Justice but sadly they fails to do much justice here for the Hindi music lovers.
