Time Magnetics (India) Pvt. Ltd. return with another masala actioner after last year's 'The Hero'. This time it is the return of 'chota bhai' Bobby Deol to play the lead role in this Guddu Dhanoa directed flick who delivered 'Jaal' with Sunny Deol and 'Hawa' with Tabu last year. Combination of Anand Raj Anand and Dev Kohli handle the music department.
There are 2 straight item numbers in Kismat - 'Mahi Mahi Mahi' and 'Sajna Se Milne Jaana'. Both are quite similar in set-up, look, feel, sets, choreography and costumes! To add to it, both the tracks are sung by Sunidhi Chauhan (who is at the hot-seat for singing all item numbers these days in addition to the good work she is doing occasionally with the romantic tracks). Instrumentals for the same also make an appearance. Both the tracks do not have any novelty to offer and do not have much repetition value. The songs definitely do not stand much chance in terms of long-term retention and at best may just fill up the slot for the item tracks in the movies. Priyanka Chopra too fails to sizzle and the song may not really appeal to the front-benchers as well. Very average!
After listening to 'Dil Teri Deewangi Mein Kho Gaya Hai', you start wondering that for how many more ages will you be forced to hear such 'banjara' songs when we are actually craving for something different (and getting it too) with every passing year. Such is the predictability of the music, lyrics (the songs goes so simple as - Dile Teri Deewangi Mein Kho Gaya Hai - Ho Gaya Hai Ishq Tumse Ho Gaya Hai - now what's so unique about this?), choreography (look at the horde of dancers in the background gyrating unexcitedly), costumes (dated back to 80s), situation (hero and heroine doing the 'nazron-ke-ishaare' with each other) and everything else! To add to the injury, there is an instrumental added to the album. Was it expected that a listener will actually sing-along? Just ignore this one!
'Hum Hain Mast Maula' takes Abhijeet a few steps back after all the good work he has done in the past by means of singing selective songs. Nothing too great about the song where the hero is shown to be enjoying his carefree life style. Somehow the tune reminds you of Parveen Babi's seductive act in 'Main To Beghar Hoon Apne Ghar Le Chalo' from Suhaag. This track by Abhijeet and Alka Yagnik doesn't go half that far!
ARA assigns himself a solo with 'Bichhi Padi Hai' that just doesn't pick up and is a philosophical kinda song. Nah! This doesn't impress. Shaan and Gayatri Iyer try to add spice to this otherwise boring album with 'Chitti Dudh Kudi'. This too doesn't help because the damage has already been done by far and there is not much that can really revive this from here. The song tries to be funky and youthful but the listener may just not care by now and the number just goes unnoticed.
The tracks in 'Kismat' test your patience from start to finish and ultimately go nowhere in being impressive in even one single track. All the tracks are either dated or rehashed from the often-heard tunes.
Below average!
