After a spate of No. 1 movies, Govinda seems to be marching strong towards patenting 'Raja' titles as well. From 'Raja Babu'
to 'Dulhe Raja' to 'Rajaji' and now 'Raja Bhaiyya', it has been one long journey for this entertainer who tasted an overdue
success with the 'Ek Aur Ek Gyarah' early this year. Raja Bhaiyya, which has taken some time to reach the finishing line,
after being launched some time back, stars him opposite two film old, pretty girl, Aarti Chabbaria (Tumse Achca Kaun Hai,
Awara Paagal Deewana) as a Bengali babu in this comic flick directed by Raman Kumar. Maan Singh Deep produces this
movie which has music by Nadeem Shravan and Surinder Sodhi (3 songs each) and lyrics by Sameer and Maan Singh
himself.
We will start with the song that is supposed to be the USP of the movie and is touted to boost the album sales - "Sunday
Manao' sung by Govinda. It has lyrics by Mann Singh Deep and music by Surindar Sodhi. Caution: Something has gone very
horribly wrong with this number that is supposed to be a fun song about "enjoying your weekend". Let aside enjoying the
weekend, the number makes you really shriek in anguish due to some insipid composition and Govinda's rendering. Govinda,
you have done some fair job earlier in singing some masti songs like 'Gore Gore Baanke Chhore - Shola Aur Shabnam', 'Meri
Pant Be Sexy - Dulaara' (though this song too had a very limited market !!) and to some extent, even the lesser heard - 'I
Want money' - Waah Tera Kya Kehna'. But in 'Sunday Manao', there is no single factor that can be considered worthwhile !!
'Tu Jo Hans Hans Ke' by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Udit Narayan and 'Kehta Hai Mera Jiya' by Udit Narayan and Sunidhi Chauhan
are typically routine tracks by Nadeem Shravan that do not boast of anything novel and exciting. The former track which is on
air these days doesn't carry any great production values and looks like any other Govinda number from the mid-90s, whereas
'Kehta Hai' carries the undertones of 'Tum To Dhokebaaz Ho' - Saajan Chale Sasural and 'Sajan Re Jhooth Mat Bolo' - Kyoki
Main Jhooth Nahi Bolta !! Nothing great about these numbers !! They just come and go !!
'Madhosh Teri Aankhen' by Udit Narayan and 'Janam Janam Jo Saath' by Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik are so very boring
(especially 'Janam Janam') that you wonder whether you are really hearing a song composed in the 21st century. The
compositions seem to be ages old and something straight out of 80s. The lyrics too carry the 'antique' tag attached to them.
Less said about any of these numbers - the better !! The grand finale` (?) arrives in the form of 'Don't Touch' by Sunidhi
Chauhan and Arvinder Singh (Lyrics: Mann Singh Deep - Music: Surendar Sodhi). An item track, if the producers/album
company thought that it will sail the album through, then they are highly mistaken !! Sunidhi Chauhan was absolutely not
needed to be roped in for this song which doesn't carry any shelf value.
It is surprising to see Nadeem Shravan delivering contrasting products in a short span of time. On one side they compose
soulful melodies in Andaaz and Qayamat, the sales of which are really significant in this age of piracy. In between they deliver
some average products like Hungama and Footpath whereas on the extreme side they come up with absolute disasters like
Zinda Dil and Raja Bhaiyya.
