'Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon' - A first look at the title when the promotion of the movie began about 4-5 months back and you already know that such a project can be mentored only by Ram Gopal Verma. Debutante` Chandan Arora, who has assisted RGV earlier is at the helm of affairs of this flick that has Antara Mali aspiring to be Madhuri Dixit whereas Rajpal Yadav plays her emotional anchor, who accompanies her to the good old Bollywood !! MMDBCH has lyrics and composition by Nitin 'Khandala' Raikwar whereas Amar Mohile is the music designer.
'Tu Ban Jayegi Madhuri' is more of a jingle and a light hearted conversation track rather than a song !! A number in which all the friends and the village folks of the character played by Antara Mali motivate and convince her that she is nothing short of the screen idol Madhuri Dixit and may soon reach the top like her if she sets her steps in Bollywood. Sung, or shall we say narrated by everyone from Antara Mali to a bunch of newcomers - Moulina Singh, Nisha Lalwani, Ritika Sahani, Amit Khanduri, Raj Shekhar, Sanjay Maurya, Teddy Maurya to Nitin Raikwar, it is absolutely situational and makes for an interesting hearing !!
One really feels like letting the hair down and jump on the dance floors with 'Tumse Mili Nazar'. A jazzy number, a kind that was made popular by Shammi Kapoor-Mohd. Rafi combo, it is certainly going to drive you crazy with it's great rhythm and foot tapping composition. Sung excellently by Sonu Nigam and new-find Rithika Sahani, it should bring the house down !! Add to it, there is also a remix available of the same which elevates the number even further !!
'Rumi Saab', again by a bunch of newcomers Mohit Chauhan, Manoj Misra, Amar Chaudhry, Suresh Debu and Sameer Siddiqui, is another situational track in the lines of 'Tu Ban Jayegi....' in terms of being strictly situational and narrative in format. Composed as a satire on Bollywood (as most of the RGV movies do in some way or the other !!), it conveys the woes of the down-sliding Hindi film industry due to the stereotype portrayal of heroes and heroines and how our script writers / storytellers / directors aren't doing anything genuinely 'hatke' !! It also says that how everything could have been back on track, if only there was 'Rumi Saab' !! Now who is this 'Rumi Saab', this has to be checked out when the movie hits the theatre !! 'Rumi Saab' !! Doesn't this ring a bell after 'Kallu Mama' and 'Aslam Bhai' !!
Poornima, who has not been seen in the hindi music scene for quite some years now, comes up with a number 'Makhan Malai' along with newcomer Saurav, who does a fine job !! An average number, it is set as a fast paced fun track with the bhangra in the background. 'The Duplicates Song' by Shreya, Sudesh Bhonsle, Amit Khanduri and Saurav is another situational track that doesn't boast of any fixed musical notes but treads a varied narrative !! The number has to be really seen with the flow of the movie to be understood and appreciated !!
A truly different album, that relies heavily on narration rather than just been musical, it doesn't boast of providing wholesome entertainment but at least is a good enough attempt at treading a not-so-explored path !!
