A superstar - who rose to stardom in a flash and is now trying to strenghten his stranglehold in the tinseltown !!
A charming queen - who is true to her name !!
A music director - who has always delivered his best when it comes to the family !!
A master director - who may get a flak by critics but hailed by the masses !!
A team - that has delivered one of the biggest hits of all times !!
Theme - Supposed to be the first of it's kind on this side of the planet !!
Result - ROARING EXPECTATIONS !!
Yes, this is what Koi..Mil Gaya is all about. The title itself is flattering to say the least. Though it may convey the sense of a
love story for the starters, the depth of the title says something else only - about EXTRA TEERESTRIALS (ETs) !! A first of it's
kind in India, it has Hrithik Roshan essaying the role of a guy who has a mind of a 10 year old kid - clever, naughty and a
prankster. Preity Zinta plays the girl in whom she confides whereas Rekha plays his mother. Rakesh Roshan, the director, too
makes an appearance in a brief cameo in KMG that has music by Rajesh Roshan and has maximum numbers written by
Ibrahim Ashq. Nasir Faraaz and Dev Kohli too pitch in with a number each.
OK, so the movie is about ETs. But then can we have a love story kept at the backside. Never !! So the album begins with a
romantic title number - 'Koi Mil Gaya'. Chitra, who is on a high afer 'Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon' does well in this number as
well which is her duet with Udit Narayan. Very well worded by Ibrahim Ashq, it has a very simple tune and is immediately
catchy. In fact the highlight of most of the tracks in KMG is the simplicity in their compositions !! Very simple words (which
come so very easily on you) and smooth music (with no shor-sharaaba !!) And this is what makes KMG interesting.
The second number 'Idhar Gaya Main Udhar Gaya' by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik is a very pleasing number and is the
best example of this simplicity. Hummable from the word GO !!, it should be extremely popular amongst the children, mainly
because of Hrithik's antics in the number. Preity looks charming in her slim'ntrim avtaar and she is one heroine on whom short
dresses do not vulgar !!
A kid's number 'Jadoo' is again very pleasant to say the least. Not a hardcore kid's number as was the case with the tracks
from J2M2, it is again sung by the duo of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. The number is a Rajesh Roshan number all the way,
as you can so easily make out from the initial notes itself. A good number, it should gain popularity with the movie. The
number is repeated again with this time Adnan Sami in the lead along with Alka. As is the trend, there is also a instrumental
for the theme but due to it's short duration, there is not much impression !!
'It's magic' sung by Taz (Stereo Nation) is a number for Hrithik's fans !! Most probably a number picturised on Hrithik once he
is out of his kid persona and behaves his age (and becomes a dashing Hrithik, as we know him !!) It goes with his image and
though not very different or great, it plays to the gallery!! With 'En Panchiyon', Rajesh Roshan goes back to where he is best
at - churning melodies !! Written by Nasir Faraaz, it is again good to hear to and does well. Shaan continues with his
excellent run and Kavita Krishnamurthy and baby Sneha give him ample support.
After all these simple songs, the album ends with a typical Bollywood number 'Haila Haila' by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik.
Written by Dev Kohli, it seems to be a jhatak-matak sensual number between the lead pair and is aimed mainly at the
masses. Though good, it gives a strange feeling because the other songs in the album are pretty sophisticated and simple in
their approach.
In all, the music of KMG doesn't disappoint. Though we may not be able to compare it's music with the earlier - Kaho Naa
Pyaar Hai - by the same team, it has it's share of plus points going in it's favour.
There have been quite a few good albums in past few days - Chalte Chalte, MPKDH, Saaya, Darna Mana Hai.
KMG adds to this list.
