'Hawayein' - Well what is this, you wonder !! Then one searches for some kind of credits on the album and finds none. The
movie's director reads as Ammtoje Mann who also happens to be the lead hero of the movie. Heroine of the flick is the new
find Aanandee and the producers are Mannerism Productions. At max, you are able to relate to the music director and the
singer - Babbu Mann, as he has done a few Punjabi music album in past few years. Then you say - 'Chalo fine, for a past few
days, T-Series has been promoting this album on the tube, so let me check this out !!'. You lazily play the album and as expected, a Punjabi pacy track - 'Pabb Chakk De' plays on. Sung by Babbu Mann (who sings all the 8 tracks in this album, which was first released a few months back just as a non-film album), it is typically traditional and throws no surprises.
Convinced about your belief in the product, you wait for song no. 2 to be played. And you are somewhat happy to hear this
feel good fast paced track - 'Nachoongi Saari Raat' by Jaspinder Narula and Babby Mann as it is really foot tapping. It is
surprising that this track, which has the potential to be popular, hasn't been promoted yet !! What follows after this is a song -
'Aaja O Yaara' which is about 'how to live life a better way' by Preeti Uttam, Sukhwinder Singh and Babbu Mann !! A simple
song to listen to, it is good again and is easy to ears, especially due to the presence of Sukhwinder Singh.
'Teri Yaad' (again by the same trio of Preeti Uttam, Sukhwinder Singh and Babbu Mann) is sung well but is depressing due to
it's sad lyrics and some situational music. A number which will be very impressive in the movie, it leaves you disheartened
while listening to it and you want to quickly move on to the next one. After all this comes the number that was one of the first
number to be aired on the tube - 'Dekho Meri Muskaan Kitni Khoobsurat Hai'. Special mention to Babbu Mann who does a
very good all-around job of singing, writing and composing this number, it has a lively tune and good lyrics. A clean number !!
A very short version of the same number also appears soon after but you really don't know that when it starts and ends as it is
a composition of a few seconds only !!
Melody continues with 'Ye Hawayein Keh Rahi Hain' which has Sadhana Sargam giving company to Babbu Mann. Aanandee
looks beautiful in this number which has been shot well as well and is pretty melodious. To end the album in a conventional
manner, there is 'Bhangra Paa Laaiye' by Sadhana Sargam, Babbu Mann and Bhavdeep. As the title of the number suggests,
it is a bhangra track which has the 'ladki waale' and the 'ladke waale' teasing each other at a marriage occasion.
Non-starcast and an unknown banner may be a hindrance but the marketing prowess of T-Series may help. In totality, Hawayein has a few hummable/foot tapping tracks that may lift the prospects of the album !!
