More than 2 decades back came a comedy called 'Lok Parlok' starring Jeetendra and Prem Nath that was based on escapades of a man who manages to travel across ages all the way to 'Yamlok' - LITERALLY. On the similar theme comes debutante Imtiaz Punjabi's 'Fun2shh' that doesn't traverse that far but still manages to sail through about 10 centuries! Starring Paresh Rawal, Iqbal Khan, Anuj Sawhney, Raima Sen and Natanya Singh, Fun2shh has music by Pritam and lyrics by as many as 6 lyricists.
Fun2shh begins on a very sober note with a soft number - 'Dhua Dhua'. A track where the heroines of the movie (in the 10th century) are shown to be having a royal time in their 'rajmahals' and waiting for their 'prince-to-be', it is marked by some good music and lyrics (by Amitabh Verma and Mayur Puri). Chitra and Sanjivani play their parts well and the song would have been popular by now if choreographed on known names and publicized well.
Album shifts gears immediately after this and comes next a situational fun track - 'Time Kharab Hai'. A track where the lead actors are cursing their luck for not being wealthy and lacking all the luxuries in the world, it is good for the situation and can be enjoyed with the movie. Written by Praveen Raj, it is sung by Sonu Nigam and Sudesh Bhonsle and also a line or two by Paresh Rawal, Iqbal Khan, Anuj Sawhney and Farida Jalal.
Combination of Shaan and KK works again in 'Hold' - an entertaining number. A difficult number to sing because of the way this song has been composed (You need to hear this and you will know why), Shaan and KK thoroughly enjoy this one. Lyrics by Amitabh Verma and Vivek Philip are witty and bring a smile. There is a female voice also in this number and she sings pretty well but surprisingly she has not been credited on the album cover.
Title track 'Hum Hai Fun2shh' is another humorous number set in the 10th century - the difference being that it is our 21st century dudes who dance to the tunes there. A mix of Marathi, Gujarati and Punjabi makes it a roaring track that should get the roof down. Choreography of this track has been innovative and this song should be a good attraction in the movie. Nitin Raikwar writes well for the situation and also sings along with Vinod Rathore and Kunal Ganjawala.
Theme song 'Fun2shh' written by Pravin Raj and Arya comes in two versions by Kunal Ganjawala and Usha Uthap individually. Though the former holds well, it is the latter by Usha Uthhap and Arya that is rocking. She excels again in this situational track that should form the background score of the movie and come occasional as per the situation. A good track composed belonging to rock'n'roll genre, it makes you dance to its beats.
With an interesting storyline like this, one expects a joyful ride throughout. Music of the movie succeeds in being good for the situations. Promos of the movie have been promising so far and the curiosity to watch the movie is slowly but steadily building up. Only hitch is the low key publicity which may just pick up by the word of mouth if the initial crowds like the movie!
