After creating a 'Gadar' with Bade bhaiyya Sunny Deol,
Amisha wooes Chote Bhaiyya Bobby in Kranti. Titles of
both the films are very much similar but the content
isn't. Though both the movies are actioners, wheres
'Gadar' was a patriotic saga, 'Kranti' is an out and
out masala flick directed by Naresh Malhotra whose
caption says 'NO F.I.R., NO ARREST, FAISLA ON THE
SPOT' - so typical of a Bobby movie - as were Soldier,
Badal and Bichoo. The promos have already caught
attention and its upon the end product produced by
Vivek Kumar that will decide the fate of 'Kranti'.
Anand Bakshi saab writes and Jatin Lalit score the
music.
Kranti's music is good with at least two numbers out
of in-total six, that will ride the popularity
charts. First being 'Ishq Jadu Ishq Tona' and the
other 'Dil Mein Dard Sa' which is all over the
channels. 'Ishq Jadu Ishq Tona' has been treated the
same as 'Kambakth Ishq' from 'Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya'.
The number is very unlike Jatin LaIit and it is good
to see them deliver something more than their melodies
in which they have already mastered. It is very much
in a western mould and it's the beats that catch the
attention in the first go, never mind the brief
inclusion of a part of Prabhu Deva's 'Mukkala
Muqabala' from 'Hamse Hai Muqabla' near the middle of
the song. The best part of the entire number is the
return of Amit Kumar who still exudes the same charm
as in early 80's. Though Sunidhi Chauhan is sincere,
she fades in comparison with the seasoned vocals of
Amit Kumar. The number will be remembered for a long
time to come. An out and out Amit Kumar song.
'Dil Mein Dard Sa' is a duet by the regular and
popular duo of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. The
lyrics by Bakshi saab are good (as usual) and the
melody is trademark Jatin Lalit ishtyle. The tabla
beats in the background remind of 'Tujhe Dekha To Ye
Jaana Sanam' from DDLJ. The locations are lush and the
song is feel good. A beautiful melody that will win
the hearts. 'Mera Dil Tu Wapas Mod De' is a lively
duet by Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan. It is a fast track
with both the lead singers in good form. One just
feels like shaking a leg or two in this rip roaring
number that will appeal widely to today's yuppie
generation. 'Hayo Rabba' is another fast number by
Sonu Nigam and Kavita Krishnamurthy. Nothing great
about the composition but quite a listenable love
song.
'Jung Ho Ya Pyar' is a situational number that talks
about one who strikes first wins - be it be love or
war. Even this is a pacy number and seems to be a
picturized in a club or villain's den. Trying to sound
like a 20 something girl, Asha Bhonsle is surprisingly
just average. 'O Naukar Sarkari' is another Udit
Narayan - Alka Yagnik number, the tune of which is
very much similar to the ones churned by Laxmikant
Pyarelal in the 70's and the 80's. It is about a wife
complaining to her husband for him not devoting her
enough time due of his job. Again a feel good number
where Alka Yagnik sounds so much like she did in
'Palki Mein Hoke Sawaar Chali Re' from Khalnayak.
The best thing about the music of 'Kranti' is that the
proceedings do not get dull even once in the entire
album. The numbers are peppy and entertaining. A GOOD
BUY.
