Generally Raj Kanwar's movies are very much news in
the production stage itself. But probably after the
no-show of Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Raj Kanwar has kept a
low profile
and made a movie with rank new comers Arya Babbar and
Amrita Rao. This is his second movie with newcomers
after 'Deewana' that marked the debut of Shahrukh Khan
and Divya Bharti(though it also had Rishi Kapoor).
Let's hope Ab Ke Baras repeats the success story of
Deewana.
What's the common factor between the music of
films
coming from the banner of Raj Kapoor, Yash Chopra,
Subhash Ghai or Sooraj Brajatya? The music of their
films always have that special 'Director's touch' and
it's not the
music director but the movie director whose stamp is
so much visible!! Though it may be too high a
compliment to compare Raj Kanwar with greats like them
but the credit
should be given where it is due and needless to say,
but even in his movies - be it Jeet, Har Dil Jo Pyar
Karega or Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, the music has always
held it’s
own.
In AKB, Sameer's lyrics are just about average
but is Anu Malik who should get full marks for
composing such a fun filled album.
'Pyar Mohabbat' and 'Mujhe Rab Se Pyaar Hai' are two
such numbers that one can easily identify to be from a
Raj Kanwar's flick. Former by Udit Narayan and
Anuradha
Paudwal is a 100% bhartiya composition whereas 'Mujhe
Rab Se Pyaar Hai' is number set in Arabian style sung
by Adnan Sami and well supported by ever-sensual
vocals
of Anuradha Sriram. Both of them are in great touch
and the heavy orchestra too does the trick.
'Deewane Aate Jaate' by Sonu Nigam Alka Yagnik and
Kunal Ganjawala ia a melodious number that has caught
the eye and is already popular. How can anyone miss
out
Amrita standing legs straight on Arya's knees !!!
'Main Pyaar Mein Hoon' (Shaan and Anuradha Paudwal) is
a love song which is typically Anu Malik. A very good
melody
and add to it the unique choreography that the number
has got as seen in the latest promos and you know you
are gonna like the song. Sweet - 16 Amrita Rao has it
and
she flaunts it.Surely she will be the new MISS LONG
LEGS after Shilpa Shetty and Sonali Bendre.
'Saari Umar Main Rahun' by Sonu Nigam is a stage
number and the music piece in the beginning reminds of
'Sitaron Ki Mehfil' (Kaho Na Pyar Hai). The number is
about the
hero's desire of being young forever for a
'BUT-OBVIOUS' desire. Chorus singing 'Dil le le dil de
de' is reminiscent of 'Rabba Mere Rabba' - Mujhe Kuch
Kehna Hai. Anu Malik
treats the song with a lot of funk and beats to lead
it to a chartbuster kind. Some good
choreography....and the song can do wonders!!!
Anu Malik and Raj Kanwar device something NEW in true
terms in 'Awaara Dil - Club Remix'. Till now we had
remix versions of a single number. But ever heard of a
remix
versions of three numbers in just one track. It has
been a very good effort and a successful one too. Aaya
Mahi, Hoga Hoga and Mujhe Rab se Pyar Hai come
together in
this very version. It is a completely westernized
attempt at composition and is poised to be definitely
popular among the Generation 2K2. Undoubtedly a track
that will be
played again and again in the discs. A party number.
Preeti Pinky are back in their naughty mood with 'Hoga
Hoga'. Sonu Nigam gives good company in this fun
number that talks about 'SOMEONE SOMEWHERE IS OUT
THERE FOR U'. Another very good number.'Aaya Maahi' is
based on a punjabi folk number that is sung by
Sukhwinder Singh, Richa Sharma and Sunidhi Chauhan to
give
that genuine punjabi touch. The number can be
considered analogous to another genuine kashmiri folk
number 'Bhumbro' from Mission Kashmir and should be as
popular.
The year started in a similar fashion with Ye Dil
Ashiqana that starred newcomers Karan and Jividha.
Aggressive publicity and a strong music helped the
film get a super-hit
status. Same hold for AKB that comes from the
production house of Raj Kanwar. Moreover T-Series will
definitely give this album extensive publicity that it
so very well
deserves.
There is not even one song in AKB, which is
NOT entertaining. Each of the number holds its own and
in Bollywood language, the score of AKB can be termed
as
a whole sole 'Masala' entertainer.
