Mahesh Manjrekar dwells into yet another sensitive
issue in 'Tera Mera Saath Rahen' (TMSR) after yet to
be released 'Ehsaas'. Anand Raaj Anand is the composer
while Sameer pens the lyrics. As the promos of 'Tera
Mera Saath Rahen' say, it is ' A story of two
brothers, their innocence, their love, their
sacrifice.... '. Ajay Devgan plays an elder brother to
a mentally challenged boy. The getup of Ajay Devgan in
the trailors of the movie suggest yet another award
winning performance from him ;something on the lines
of Mahesh Bhatt's Zakhm. Ever so refreshing Sonali
Bendre pairs up with Ajay again after 'Major Saab'.
Incidentally music score of Major Saab too was given
by Anand Raaj Anand. Namrata Shirodkar plays the
second heroine in the movie.
First things first - TMSR is mainly on the melody
side. But wherever the album has tried to get
off-track, i.e.shifted base from melody to something
different, it has fallen on the face. Examples - 'Haqh
Jata De' , 'Dum Dum Diga Diga' and 'Jumbo Jet'. But
starting with the upsides, we will talk about the
melodious ones first. Udit Narayan is at his best in
the title song 'Tera Mera Saath Rahen' in all the four
instances where the song is placed in the album. All
the four versions depict various moods. The Intro
track with Alka Yagnik is short and sweet and livens
up the proceedings instantly. 'Tujh Se Bichad Ke' is
the sad version of the same number and is again just a
few lines. The full song comes twice - once as a
single by Udit Narayan and then as a duet with Alka
Yagnik (Hathon Ki Lakeeron Mein) . The song impresses
every time one listens to it and no one minds it
repeating in the album.
'Pehli Nazar' (Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik) is no
doubt the best track in the album and is hummable from
the word GO. The melody reminds of the beautiful songs
that were composed for the deadly combo of the 70's -
Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. Beautifuly captured
Swiss alps and a wonderfully designed red colored
costume worn by Sonali makes the number even more
appealing.
'Haqh Jata De' (Sukhwinder Singh, Hema Sardesai)
starts off exactly in the same manner as another Anand
Raaj Anand composition 'Karna Hai...Pyar Tumse Karna
Hai' from 'Major Saab'. It is supposed to be a sensual
number but sadly doesn't succeed at all. The music in
this one is routine and can be conveniently skipped.
Another downer is 'Dum Dum Diga Diga' which seems like
a typical basti number. Moreover a stage show too
happens simultaneously which constitutes everything
from yesteryears 'Jaadugar Saiyaan... Chodo Mori
Baiyaan' to Altaf Bhai's 'Tum To Thehre Pardesi' to
the hottest star on the scene - Hrithik's 'Dil Mera
Har Baar Ye' from Kaho Naa ...Pyar Hai'. Atul Kale and
Bela Shinde lend their vocals here. 'Jumbo Jet' is a
kid number and from the audio it seems like elders
playing with the kids and entertaining them. Rahul
Ranade is the guest composer for this song written by
Anand Ingle. It talks about everything from Batman,
Superman to Donald Duck and distracts widely from the
other beautiful numbers of TMSR. The song finishes off
as a advertisement jingle and how one heaves a sigh of
relief !!!
Thankfully 'Dil Wahi Bekaraar Hota Hai' and ' Tadpati
Hai, Tarsati Hai' (lyrics - Praveen Bhardwaj) come to
an immediate rescue thereafter. The duets by Udit
Narayan and Alka Yagnik are pleasure to the ears and
make for repeated listening. Rahul Ranade makes up for
'Jumbo Jet' by giving fabulous tunes for 'Main
Sochon'. Gautam Joglekar lyrics are good. It's a soft
melodious number rendered in a cool and comfy fashion
by Hariharan and ever reliable Alka Yagnik.
Anand Raaj Anand scores a hat-trick with this one.
After rip-rip-roaring score in 'Kyo Ki Main Jhuth Nahi
Bolta' and some techno stuff in 'Indian', he
concentrates on melody in 'Tera Mera Saath Rahen'.
