'Kyo Kii ... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta' is supposedly
inspired by Jim Carrey starrer 'Liar Liar' and who
else but 'King of Entertainment' Govinda would have
been an ideal choice to enact the role of the main
protagonist. The music of 'Kyo Kii ... Main Jhuth Nahin
Bolta is a product of typical David Dhawan-Govinda
combination; no rona dhona stuff but just plain masti
and maza.
The album begins on a very positive note with "Ek
Ladki Chahiye" which is sung with aplomb by Sonu Nigam
and Jaspinder Narula. The song is in same class as
'Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare' (Dulhe Raja) and 'Kisi Disco
Mein Jaaye' (Bade Miya Chote Miya). The choreography,
locations, style and the gloss associated with the
song are also the same as is expected from a Govinda
song. Sushmita Sen proves again after 'Dilbar Dilbar'
(Sirf Tum), 'Sona Sona', 'Chunari Chunari' (Biwi No
1) and of recent 'Mehboob Mere' (Fiza) among others
that she can very well adjust with the 'jhatka matka'
mode of the Mumbai film industry when needed. The fun
continues with 'Paa Liya Hai Pyar Tera' ( Udit
Narayan, Alka Yagnik) which is again a foot-tapping
number and should fit well with the proceedings of the
movie.
Once upon a time, letter 'K' was associated with
Rakesh Roshan movies like Khoon Bhari Maang, Karan
arjun, Kaho Naa Pyar Hai but of late Jeetendra's
daughter Ekta Kapoor's productions too start with
the letter K. Her small screens soaps like ' Kyonki
Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki , Kabhi
Sautan Kabhi Saheli, Koshish Ek Aasha are just a few
examples. To continue the winning streak, the original
title of the movie which was 'Sajan Re Jhoot Mat
Bolo' was changed to the current one i.e. 'Kyo Kii ...
Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta'. In fact this is reflected in
the song 'Suno Miya Suno', that contains the lyrics
'Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo'. It has a kind of feel of
an earlier Govinda hit 'Tum To Dhokebaaz Ho' from
'Saajan Chale Sasural'. Poornima gets to sing a
potentially hit number after a long time since those
Bol Radha Bol (Tu Tu Tara), Raja Babu (Sarkaiylo
Khatiya) and Hero No. 1(Sona Kitna Sona Hai) days.
Udit Narayan and Sadhna Sargam too join the party.
Once again, as Anuradha Sriram has earlier also shown,
her sensual vocals have been the highlight of the song
'Hai Udd Gayi Re Neend' with Sonu Nigam also in full
form. Another ploy that keeps the momentum of the album
going is to have kept the instrumentals of two songs
'Hai Udd Gayi Re Neend' and 'Ek Ladki Chahiye' in
between the rest of the songs instead of fitting them
in a conventional manner at the end of the album.
Although 'Ande Ka Funde' from Jodi No 1 was a hit,
singer Pratik Joseph came in for some criticism. With
'Ek Ladki Deewani Si' (he sings as well as writes for
the same), he makes a better effort but still not good
enough to bring him in Udit Narayan,Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet
bracket. A few more good breaks may help his cause.
Based on folk music, 'Kaun Kehta Hai' is sung by
Abhijeet. It starts off in appreciation of the wonders
of lies but later settles down to the theory of
'Satyameva Jayate' i.e. 'Truth always prevails'. Never
mind 'very slight' shades of the music of 'Dil Ka Haal
Sune Dilwaala' from Raj Kapoor starrer 'Shri 420'
towards the end of the song. Anand Raaj Anand delivers
what was required of him; a good time pass music that
gels well with the movie. Lyrics by Dev Kohli are OK,
but a riot in 'Ek Ladki Chahiye'. Let's see if the
movie is as much a riot as are the songs.
Moral of the story--> ( Govinda X David Dhawan ) +
Dhamakedaar music = Definite HIT
