This week belongs to Anand Raaj Anand with two major
releases - Kyo Kii...Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta and
Indian. Dharmendra presents Indian and by the look of
promos, it looks like Sunny has another HIT up his
sleeves notwithstanding the euphoria caused by Gadar
at the box office. Who says that action movies can not
have good songs? 'Indian' proves that if dedication
is there, then even hard core actioners can boast of a
few good numbers.
After the soft melodious numbers Shaan rendered for
Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai (Yeh Hawaein, Kuch Aisa Jahan
Hum Banaye) and Raju Chacha (Tune Mujhe Pehcahana
Nahi), he gets in a rip-roar-rollicking mood with
'Deewane'. Nothing original about the composition but
the the combined efforts of Shaan, Alka Yagnik and the
fast paced orchestra make it a good listening.
'Rab Di Kasam' is a kind of Anand Milind composition
of late 80''s and early 90's. Check out for the flute
sound and u will know why !! Udit Narayan and Alka
Yagnik sing in their usual experienced style and the
chorus around is fine. Overall, the song makes for a
good "FIT-IN-THE-MOVIE" kind of arrangement. 'Jaana
Maine Jaana' is on the melody side. Sadhna Sargam and
Abhijeet put in an honest effort that shows. But the
routine composition brings it back to just being
average that doesn't guarantee a sustaining power to
the song.
Roop Kumar Rathod gets in his 'Sandese Aate Hain' and
'To Chaloon' mood in 'Watan Walo' . The patriotic
number no doubt comes in a "VERY GOOD" category and
some good picturisation or the situations where this
is incorporated should make it even more impactful on
the screen. Anand Bakshi's lyrics in the song like
"Doston Se Milo Doston Ki Tarah, Dushmano Se Milo
Dushmano Ki Tarah" talk straight to the point. Well
said Bakshi sahab!!!
Anand Raaj Anand saves one of the best tracks for
himself to sing and does full justice to it. 'Thaath
Nawaabi' is a fun filled roothna-manana song and could
have very well fit in a romantic movie as well. Alka
Yagnik sounds good (as she has been consistently doing
for all these years). Lyrics like 'Chuunu Ki Mummy,
Raju Ki Maami' in the song too are enough reason for
the song to be enjoyable. 'Yeh Pyar' by Sunidhi
Chauhan and Richa Sharma seems to be choreographed for
the occasion of a naach-gaana in a villain's den or a
night club. This high pitched song is a disappointment
(audio wise at least), but may be "IN-SITUATION", it
may have a better feel.
Indian has a kind of music that one enjoys when the
promos keep bombarding the channels but conveniently
forgets once the movie is off the theatres. If the
songs are not path breaking then they are not a
washout either. The compositions are not class apart
but better than what some of the other action movies
have to offer.
