'Sehar' (morning) is a small yet promising movie that is already being noticed for its hard-hitting appeal. A movie that marks a tangential shift for Arshad Warsi's image, it is designed as a hard hitting drama about a young SSP (Arshad Warsi) in the state of UP, who brings together a group of like-minded cops to challenge the nexus between politicians, mafia, police and builders. At the very root level, it sounds like just another cop movie but one is bowled over after looking at the intense promo that showcases the characters of brilliant actors like Pankaj Kapoor, Sushant Singh and other talented artistes like Suhasini Mulay, Pratima Kazmi and the rest. Mahima Chaudhary is the lead heroine while direction by debutante Kabeer Kaushik appears to have a stark and rustic look that gives glimpses of a crossover between 'Satya' and 'Haasil'. Produced by Ashvin J Patel, 'Seher' has music by Daniel B George and lyrics by Swanand Kirkire and Dr. Nilanjana Kishore.

' Sapno Ka Shehar Ho ' sounds like an A.R. Rehman track in terms of arrangement. Reminding of ' Choti Si Aasha ' ( Roja ) at places, it is a well-worded song about dreams, hopes and a happy life that is sung decently by Alka Yagnik. A group of underprivileged girls do the chorus. A promotional number for the movie, it may feature at places in the background of movie's narrative. Overall the number that appears twice in the album isn't as impressive as one would have hoped, and settles down to be just another song with a theme around expecting better days ahead.

Guitar strings accompany Adnan Sami's subdued voice in the romantic duet ' Palken Jhukao Na ' that has Alka Yagnik giving company. A laidback yet sober track, it is an extremely hearable melody that deserves to be heard in a repeat mode. Lyrics are good once again that give the track a classy touch. Adnan Sami's efforts in singing show, while Alka Yagnik's belated appearance is whole-heartedly greeted. Lyricist Swanand Kirkire himself comes behind the mike to do his take on ' Palken ' along with Meenal Jain. Both the singers deliver well for this much slower version of the soft track that is sans any musical instrument. And yes, both the singers do well to make their presence felt! An ' instrumental ' of the same track comes up next.

Sehar Theme I - ' Force ' is yet another good musical piece that has a variety of soft instruments used effectively. The track maintains a steady pace throughout and conveys the mood of the film without turning too dark or intense. Long theme music, it is of the kind that needs to be heard carefully to follow its various intricacies. Sehar Theme II - ' Sacrifice ' also follows closely but it is a very short track primarily based on the music of ' Sapno Ka Shehar Ho '. An even shorter track is a ' Prayer ' by Shobha Joshi that is just about situational and doesn't add much to the album per se. Pankaj Kapoor delivers a couple of liners about the movie's feel in ' Faiz ' that is being used for the movie's promos.

' Nakhredar Banno ' is a 'ladies sangeet' track by Shubha Mudgal that has a traditional touch. A track that would be identified more in the interiors than the urban crowds, it has a nice rhythm but still not a chartbuster material that may be heard around all the marriages happening in town! Just average!

It has been seen quite often that offbeat films come up with a strong musical score with a classy appeal. In the case of 'Sehar' too this was expected but sadly the score turns out to be just about average with just a track or two really making a mark. Rest of the tracks are nothing spectacular that may convince a listener to either go for the entire album or look forward to the movie with high anticipation. At best, ' Palken Jhukaon Naa ' may enter the charts but that should be about it.
