Payal Rohatgi's movies continue to make an appearance a month. Month of June will witness yet another addition to the sleaze fest in the form of Chetna – The Excitement . Payal's inclusion in the project doesn't come as a surprise but credits mentioning Partho Ghosh as the director do because he is the same person who had come up with diverse yet entertaining subjects like ' 100 days', 'Agnisakshi ' and ' Yugpurush ' till about a decade back. The passing decade changed it all and now Ghosh too joins the bandwagon with Evershine Films' ' Chetna ' that is presented by Infotech Ltd. Jatin Grewal and Navneet Kaur form the rest of the cast while Daboo Malik and Praveen Bhardwaj handle music and lyrics respectively. In 1970, veteran director B.R. Ishara directed ' Chetna ' that dealt around the relationship between a young man and a prostitute. Promos of the 2005's Chetna indicate a similar theme!
The album has 4 original tracks in total with an additional 4 tracks from the movie ' Dreams ' and album ' Mashooqa '. Opening track ' Kuchh Tum Bolo Na ' is a rhythmic seduction song with straight and simple lyrics. Sowmya Raoh sings the song well and one wonders why the lady is not heard much often. Till now whatever songs she has sung, she has rendered them well but still she is not much seen around. Overall the track has a fine rhythm throughout and doesn't really turn out to be a bore or plain mediocre as one had presumed in the beginning about Chetna's soundtrack.
' Teri Yeh Bindiya ' plummets the album with a thud as the track is as predictable as it can be. The arrangements in the number are the songs from the early 80s. Vinod Rathod and Vaishali Samant sing this track, which is of a kind that used to be composed for Govinda's starrers years back. But in today times when audience has become extremely selective, such songs are an absolute no-no!
When ' Tum Aaj Mile Ho ' begins, the music indicates that it is one of those sad ' dard-e-judaai ' songs. But as soon as one hears the first couple of lines, one realizes that it is 'supposed' to be a passionate track about 'I- have-got-you-tonight-and-I-don't-want-the-night-to-be-over'. Sunidhi Chauhan has never been as listless as here in last 5 years at least and she sings the song with such pains as if either she has been forced to stand in front of the mike or the recording would have been done on one of her bad days! Sujata Majumdar too lends her vocals for one part of this song but it still remains stagnant. Plain boring! The song comes up in another version - ' Tum Aaj Mili (instead of 'Mile')' - in the vocals of new find Sabiya Khan but the results are obviously the same. Though there is nothing wrong in the singing here, it is the tune that lets everyone down as there is nothing exciting about it.
' Chetna ' is one of those albums with which one never had any expectations to start with and the same thought prevails even after the album is through. The beginning of the album just about flattered to deceive but overall there is nothing to recommend after hearing ' Chetna '. Moreover, with the film being publicized as yet another skin flick, there is hardly any focus on the promotion of the music that further brings down any sales prospects of the album.
