Vashu Bhagnani really does his job fast. First he gave
the welcome Universal Super Hit 'Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai'
to the film industry. Barely had the euphoria of MKKH
died down when he made his presence felt again with
the aggressive and unique campaign of Rehnaa Hai Terre
Dil Mein (RHTDM) starring Madhavan and Diya Mirza. And
now when the music of RHTDM has reached the top of the
charts and the movie is ready for release, then he
starts the publicity of current heart-throb Arjun
Rampal starring 'Deewaanapan'. Diya Mirza is repeated
after RHTDM that also marks the debut of director Ashu
Trikha.
All in all, Deewaanapan has enough ingredients that
should boost its audio sales. Two numbers deserve a
very special mention here -- First being the title
song 'Haan Mera Deewaanapan' and the other being 'Main
Ik Deewana Ladka'. Shaan is simply EXCELLENT in both
the numbers, especially 'Haan Mera Deewaanapan' in
which he has modulated his voice fabulously. Chorus
effect too is superb and the music by Aadesh
Srivastava is TRULY ORIGINAL here. Sunidhi Chauhan
consolidates her position among top three singers of
today with this number. Sameer's lyrics are routine but
good. 'Main Ik Deewana Ladka' is on the melody side
and touches the heart.
'Nach Nach Nach' is a Punjabi shaadi byaah song and
is set in the traditional bhangra mode. And if it is a
Punjabi number, then would it be possible to keep
Sukhwinder Singh out? But the surprise packet is
Adnan Sami here who sings his first Punjabi number for
a film. He sounds fully enthusiastic in this one and
Falguni Pathak's vocals too gel well with Diya Mirza -
the heroine of the movie. All the entertainment
channels are already flooded with 'Nach Nach Nach' and
the number is bound to be one among the chartbusters.
If Kareena Kapoor could have got 'Aa Rang De Dupatta
Mera' in 'Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai', then why can't Diya
Mirza have a 'Satrangi' to her credit in
'Deewaanapan'? Anuradha Sriram sounds naughty as
always in 'Satrangi' but still the song lacks the
punch of 'Dupatta'.
There are two campus numbers in the form of 'Hum
Deewane' and 'Doston Naam Karna Hai'. Both have K.K.
, Shaan and Hema Sardesai to provide the required
yuppy effect. Shraddha Pandit is an additional singer
in 'Doston Naam Karna Hai'. The numbers are youth
oriented and lively, but are good just till they last.
'Kamli Kamli' is set in the folky classical manner and
is sung in the typical style of earlier Sukhwinder
Singh and Richa Sharma numbers. It is a situational
number and has the similar intensity as 'Ho Gaya Hai
Tujhe Pyaar' from Pardes.
Expectations have always been high from the the music
of Puja Films - be it Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai or most
recently RHTDM. Music of Deewaanapan is certainly not
a downer, but falls short of meeting the high standards
set by earlier Vashu Bhagnani's ventures.
