Producer Vashu Bhagnani has been giving direction
reins to debutant directors for past few flicks now -
examples being Gautam Menon for RHTDM, Ashu Trikha for
Deewaanapan, Anupam Kher for Om Jai Jagadish and now
Talat Jani for Jeena Sirf Merre Liye. But sadly his
past few forays haven't paid him rich dividends as
they used to
in his David Dhawan days when flicks like Coolie No;
1, Hero No;1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan were superhits
and even Satish Kaushik delivered the first hit of
2001 - Mujhe
Kuch Kehna Hai. Now this has to be seen whether the
youthful pair of MKKH - Tusshar Kapoor and Kareena
Kapoor are successful in recreating the magic of MKKH.
As far
as the promos go, JSML seems to be a fun movie of two
lovers - A tale of eternal love. Vashu Bhagnani joins
hand with Nadeem Shravan for the first time for his
maiden
album under Puja Music company. Sameer writes and as
has been the combination of Nadeem Shravan and Sameer,
they deliver goods once again.
Title song of Jeena Sirf Merre Liye is an excellent
composition which is immensely likeable from the word
GO. Nadeem Shravan compose in their trademark style
and the
results are there for everyone. Alka Yagnik, Kavita
Krishnamurthy and Babul Supriyo have their heart in,
lyrics too are simple and come to lips naturally. Ever
seen a
qawaali shot under waterfall or some other unexpected
location. Well, this is Vashu Bhagnani for you !! Talk
of being innovative and he fits in the bill. The
qawalli in the
picture here is 'Allah Allah' which is quite catchy
and the combination of Kareena, Nadeem Shravan and
some good choreography and locations make it worth
listening/watching.
Well..
'Leke Pehla Pehla Pyaar' from the shyaam-shwet
era..I mean Black & White era resurfaces as 'Tu Hai
Sola Satraa Saal'. The first two lines are a straight
lift from the
original but the following part of the composition
holds at it's own. Abhijeet and Kavita Krishnamurthy
just freak out at this "No-Holds" bar track which is
funky to say the
least. Choreography is good and the lead couple of
Tusshar and Kareena enjoy their outing. As is a 'Dhol'
favourite for Ismail Darbar, the same way is 'Dupatta'
- Vashu sir's
favourite. It flies high once again with the track
'Dupatta' sung with aplomb by Anuradha S.
'Kash Ke Tujhse Milte' is the only slow number in this
otherwise masti-se-bhari-album. Sung by Alka Yagnik
and K.K, inspite of the track being OK, it creates a
hindrance
in the proceedings of the album and so disappoints.
But we never know, in the movie it may be a good
addition. Well, the fun is back with 'Pyaar Maange'
which is a racy
pacy track sung by Babul Supriyo and Sunidhi Chauhan.
Don't think too much about the ordinary lyrics here -
anyway they get lost in the heavy beats here. Another
time
pass number - it holds good till it is played.
Indian
tourism is promoted with 'Ek Baar To India' which
speaks everything about India Gate, Taj Mahal, Qutub
Minar, Char
Minar, food and festivals. Hey hey ...don't get
scared..it's not yet another deshbhakti song. It's
about a girl wooing her hubby to come to India and see
all this for himself. Set
as a pacy track yet again with the dependable vocals
of Alka Yagnik and well supported by Babul Supriyo, it
is a well made situational song which should be good
fit in the
storyline of the movie.
JSML may not be trend setter and is certainly not
going to be a masterpiece by any means, nor is it
going to be the chart-buster of the decade, but still
it is a safe beginning
to Puja Music. It will appeal mainly to the youth who
like such catchy, trendy music.
A good effort.
