Bipasha Basu - hottest female in the scene today and
Dino Morea team up again after the first super hit of
the year - Raaz. Other then the starcast, other
similarities are
that both the movies are Mukesh Bhatt productions and
are thrillers. Though Raaz was more of a supernatural
thriller, Gunaah (earlier titled Encounter) is a 'love
story of two
enemies' - a cop and a convict !!! Cop played by
Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea plays a convict !! Promos
have been quite eye catching so far. Let's see if the
team can
recreate the super success of Raaz. Another director
marks his debut with Gunaah - Amol Shetge. Mukesh
Bhatt ropes in Anand Raaj Anand and Sajid Wajid for
the first
time to compose music. Late Bakshi saab, Praveen
Bhardwaj and Faiz Anwar write.
'Humne Tumko Dil Ye De Diya' by Babul Supriyo and Alka
Yagnik is a romantic number which has been on the air
for a long time now. But inspite of it being the first
track of
the album and repeated twice, it isn't any great
shakes. To the max, it's an average number that may
just flutter around for some time and then fade away.
Praveen Bhardwaj
writes the lyrics and Anand Raaj Anand is the composer
for this number. They also deliver 'Jab Dil Churaye
Koyi' which is a number from the Anu Malik
territory.This too is
an average romantic number and just about OK.
'Sajana Sajana' is a heart warming number that
resembles the tune of 'Sajana...kya ye mera pehla
pehla pyar hai' from 'Suraj Hua Madham'. A good track
by Alka Yagnik
and Abhijeet, it carries on the romantic mood of the
album. So far, all the songs have been the normal,
regular, mushy ones. Enter Sajid-Wajid, Faaiz Anwar
and Sonu
Nigam and along with them comes the mood of Deewana,
Jaan and Yaad. The hangover is still there (and one
must say that it is a good hangover !!!) The song in
the
limelight is 'Dil Ne Kaha' and the distinct quivering
of Sonu Nigam's vocals are heard again !! A light
melodious number sung in a low tone - it will warm the
hearts of many a
romantic guys if packaged properly. A good track!
Late Bakshi saab has left behind him a 'dard-e-judaai'
qawalli - 'Rooth Kar Hum' that has been composed by
Sajid Wajid again and sung by Roop Kumar Rathod and
Sabri
Bros. A qawalli about how a person feels when his
loved one is not around him, it is situational. Sajid
Wajid and Bakshi saab also deliver 'Mere Dil Pe
Kisine' - another
romantic number sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik.
Again an average track, it doesn't help you much in
getting mooney eyed for your beloved and just comes
and
goes. Some sort of excitement is generated with the
'Theme of Gunaah' that has a bit of Mariah Carreysque
kind of rendering towards the end by Sunidhi Chauhan.
Based
on western beats, it somewhat resembles the background
score of a Hollywood flick but still is not a match
when it comes to the theme music that we have in our
good old
RGV productions - examples being the theme music in
Rangeela, Daud, Satya, Company and most recently Road
!!
No no no - this Gunaah is no Raaz or Kasoor - both of
which were Mukesh Bhatt productions and had music by
Nadeem Shravan. Music was the prime strength for both
the
flicks and played a major role in their box office
success. Sad to say but same cannot be said for Gunaah
in advance as it will have to rely on just more than
the music to
cause any ripples in the ticket khidki!!!
