0 of 1 people found this review helpful Maharathi doesn't disappoint, although the bindings of theatre do keep it more of an in-door affair, where people play out their crimes and misdemeanours and keep the viewer guessing with their mercurial shifts in moods and passion...

0 of 1 people found this review helpful The story of Maharathi is intriguing. The script is good enough to keep the suspense alive and the mind ticking at every moment. In fact, you would be wondering who wins the race as it gets complicated with time. Dialogues work well and keep the usually tense environment light.

0 of 1 people found this review helpful Maharathi is an interesting film, well acted and replete with some brilliant oneliners by Paresh Rawal's character. It has almost everything going for it but lacks the ability to deliver a knockout punch at the box office...

0 of 1 people found this review helpful The screenplay tends to drag. By the end of about 60 minutes when you're wishing for the film to end, the intermission slide flashes on the screen. Also you somehow can predict the ending. You know who Neha's accomplice is. You also know what Tara Sharma has in mind when she protects Paresh Rawal and what on earth Boman is up to.

Maharathi is embellished with competent performances that attempt to camouflage the intermittent imperfections. Naseeruddin Shah is effective as long as he lasts. Om Puri has an even shorter presence. Neha Dhupia manages her part well...

0 of 1 people found this review helpful Paresh Rawal delivers an interesting performance while Naseeruddin Shah too is brilliant as the alcoholic filmmaker. Boman Irani gets less scope in the first half but manages to impress with his antics. Neha Dhupia has managed to put in some good acting but Tara Sharma irritates, and Om Puri appears wasted as the investigating officer.
