The film suffers dramatically due to its passionless performances. Imaad sleepwalks through the film. He looks heavily sedated and laidback, displaying no charisma and energy, much required for his character. You'll end up asking how this dude got any women to even talk to him, let alone to go any further. Just posing in some designer tight tees doesn't increase the cool quotient.

1 of 2 people found this review helpful As a first film, Tiwary has proved that he has a story to tell and that he also has the ability to tell that story well. He seems to have lived his characters life for them. He carries you through the film with the easy flow of the narrative. Definitely a commendable first effort...

Just as the film pretty much echoes an age we have all been in, if not quite been the said protagonists. Using minimal, opening riffs as background score (of a song from Kabhie Alvida Naa Kehna, and Naach), smart lines, and a touch of de javu, Tiwari charms us with his feel for the humdrum...

1 of 1 people found this review helpful The story is about college, hostels, college elections, love, and the journey in search of love. While Imaad Shah (Apurv) is in search of love, Shreyas Talpade (Sanjay Mishra) has found his. But does his love know that? Or is it just another fling for her...

Debutante Manish gets the authentic setting right and his presentation style is true to life. His picturisation of song numbers is fun too. But the lack of good support from the scripting (wafer thin plot) leaves his enthusiastic first attempt in vain. Also he could have been less graphic with the sex scenes (aplenty)...

The film's too slow and the scene's are too repetitive and you do get the feeling things aren't really going anywhere. But wait patiently, and the mood will catch up. You'll soon join young Apurv in his search for meaning as he chases girl's and looks for sexual nirvana in place of love. Watch out for Imaad Shah, he's completely different from the run-of-the-mill heroes.

Debutante Manish Tiwary has innovative subject in his hand but the execution lacks gripping for a competent entertainer. But, overall it's a good first attempt at multiplex cinema. Cinematography (Arvind K) captures the urbane rowdy culture of Delhi University with ease...

What could've been a clash-of-cultures type movie set in the campus, turns out to be a good idea gone bad. Sure the teen-talk is authentic and all; but till the interval the story doesn't actually move forward, it's stuck in character introduction and bulilding up to 'something'. "What's the purpose, exactly is all this going?", one wonders while biting into the samosa during the interval...

At no point do any of the proceedings grip you in any way. The intricacies of college life just get submerged under superficiality. Somewhere in the middle of the film, the interest levels just drop and then it becomes a drag.

Talpade is passable, Shah looks like a pomfret out of water and you, my dear friends, will be bored with a Capital B. So why the two stars then? Only for the storyline which is drawn from the seamier side of campus life. It may all be very real but quality cinema it isn't...

The film's dialogue, sounding clunkier than King Kong climbing stairs, alternates conveniently between Hindi and English, but for no good reason. As if that wasn't bad enough already, you also have put up with all that terrible acting.

What 'Dil Dosti Etc' lacks is an interesting story that has movement and development. The film's music is also average.
All in all, a forgettable film.

Debutant director Manish Tiwari makes a bore of a film. Be it story telling, technique or production values, this film falters in all aspects. All through, the audience waits to see what happens next. The wait continues even as the end credits roll!
