3 of 4 people found this review helpful One cannot help but think of the Jessia Lal case when one looks this movie and there are certain superficial resemblances to the incident as well. But those resemblances apart, the film excels in the first part, where it deals with the rise of Sameer Khan the actor and the fall of Ashfaque the man, till the point when the fateful party happens.

4 of 5 people found this review helpful The Santoshi - Ajay Devgan magic works yet again and Devgan ends up delivering one of his finest performances. From a small town theatre artist to a superstar who turns morally corrupt and then to a crusader who wages a battle against the corrupt and powerful, Ajay is nothing short of brilliant.

4 of 5 people found this review helpful Halla Bol brings together Santoshi and Devgan after a very long time. Besides the combo, the film has the right mix to keep it going at the box office. In an era where our legal system is highly influenced by the wealthy and many cases be it the Jessica lal case, Priyadarshani Mattoo case have been creating waves; there isn’t a better time for a film of this nature.

2 of 3 people found this review helpful 'Raise your voice against all social evils and evil doers' is the message that Rajkumar Santoshi conveys through the movie Halla Bol. The first 15 to 20 min in the movie is about the film industry, the self-obsessed star and a flashback of his good-old fameless days made me feel that Halla Bol is just another take on the film industry like the recently released Sudhir Mishra’s Khoya Khoya Chand.

3 of 4 people found this review helpful The film unfolds, with the flawed protagonist struggling for redemption. The background score is as pita as ghisa gets, and there is much filminess as the characters trade punchlines. Yet as a film it stays immensely watchable, and even if predictable as a whole, you hardly see the next moment coming.

1 of 2 people found this review helpful 30-40 minutes shorter, crisper dialogues, a better issue to address, and more thought into the flow of events might have made this a better movie.

2 of 4 people found this review helpful Technically as dated as the script, the result has an efficient performance by Ajav Devgan as the conscience-bitten superstar. The excellent Pankaj Kapur, with all the scenes written in his favour, steals the show effortlessly. Vidya Balan is supremely wasted.

1 of 3 people found this review helpful The film required a hard-hitting end, but the writers contrived the screenplay to suit their convenience. As a result, what should have been a riveting, evocative and enlightening end turns out to be a hurried and unconvincing conclusion to the story.

3 of 6 people found this review helpful The loud and clichéd message of the film is to stand against anything wrong that you witness. If I had to accept the message the first thing I would stand against would be this film itself, for witnessing it isn’t less than being subjected to a trauma.

2 of 6 people found this review helpful The script is old. Very old. And you can predict most of the twists because you have seen it unfold a number of times on the big screen.

2 of 3 people found this review helpful Halla Bol is loosely based on the well-known Jessica Lall case which shocked the entire nation. The movie is successful, and the credit for this goes to the marvelous performers and also to Rajkumar Santoshi!
