9 of 15 people found this review helpful The football matches are just happening in the background without actually involving the viewer; you don't even realise when the underdogs win, can you beat that? Once the director runs out of sports film cliches, he incorporates unnecessary item songs, sub plots, comedy tracks, senseless speeches
and melodramatic confrontations.

3 of 8 people found this review helpful This is a how-do-you-count-the-ways kind of bad film. The dubbing is hideous, with characters often appearing more adept at ventriloquism than soccer, not moving their lips -- as a result, you don't know who's saying what; not that it matters much.

A sport-based film works if it gets you jumping up and cheering in the end, and then sheepishly looking around hoping no one's noticed. This one doesn't. Well, certainly not as much as LAGAAN, CHAK DE and othes did. The story is cliched, but not entirely ineffective or boring.

'Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal' does have a few engrossing and emotional moments, mostly in the second half. The music is pretty forgettable. The team's anthem "Halla Bol" only arouses embarrassment for a viewer.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful The movie falters slightly mid way past the interval. There is something missing, that doesnt make you cheer the Southall United team to victory, this could go against the movie. Also the editing could have been sharper. The runtime of the movie is almost 2 hours and 45 mins. Whats that weird item number doing in the movie? It should be chopped off. The music is above average...

Soccer lovers might prefer to watch the film as well as John Abraham fans. So if you aren’t too keen on watching Madhuri Dixit's comeback next week then Goal is a safe bet. Or else just pick up the DVD of Chak De India!

John fits the part perfectly and vows with his game display. But same cannot be said about his expressionless acting, especially during key sequences. Arshad in comparison excels and succeeds in reaching the emotional upheaval of his character straight to your heart...

Overall, Goal isn't a bad movie. Watch with low expectations and you might enjoy it. Football and John Abraham fans are sure to love it. For the rest go find out whether Chak De India is still running in a nearby Cineplex, else just purchase a DVD.

John Abraham's stock will rise after this flick. His cool dude Brit approach to life is superb, so are his on-field histrionics. With Bipasha Basu he forms a potent pair. Thankfully, Bipasha's role as that of the physiotherapist is not over the top...

0 of 1 people found this review helpful The movie wouldn't have worked, even if the various departments of movie making were handled well. Sports movies in India are generally made around invoking some kind of patriotism. I am not saying they should stop doing that. But, why would I care about some county league in England for goodness sake...

1 of 1 people found this review helpful In the end, what separates Dhan Dhanadhan Goal from other disappointing films like No Smoking and Saawariya is that you spent most of those films wondering where it was all leading upto, but this one you spend just waiting for it to end...
