1 of 4 people found this review helpful With Sarkar, Ram Gopal Varma had precisely established the central characters, set the ambience, defined the aura and demarcated the genre. So in the follow-up he simply had to take the legend ahead while narrating a new episode. And to a decent degree he succeeds in carrying the legacy forward.

1 of 3 people found this review helpful This genre of films about the underworld seems to be Ram Gopal Varma's forte. And Varma effectively demonstrates that he can effectively recreate a world, which the common man is quite cut off from. The director himself claims Sarkar Raj is not a sequel to Sarkar.

0 of 2 people found this review helpful The thing is, the director is in love with the music and camera decisions and is in fact very proud of them. Now, once you know that, the only thing you can do is register your protest - "me no likes this deafening-is-such-a-mild-word music and sway-here-there-and-everywhere camera movements."

0 of 1 people found this review helpful Sarkar Raj is no doubt the biggest outing of Ram Gopal Verma post Shiva, Satya and Company. With elite cast and unconventional story RGV proves his hawk eyes and sharp brains have not yet rusted. Given good cast and storyline he can still do wonders.

SARKAR RAJ is a thriller to the core. It may have the background of power politics but when it's time to reveal his cards, Ramu pulls out his 'Aces', one after another to dish out a gripping fare...

Sarkar Raj is a great movie for the weekend. A worthy sequel to the brilliant Sarkar of 2005. At the box-office, the movie is sure to grow with strong word of mouth and should prove to be a winner in coming weeks.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful In many ways, 'Sarkar Raj' is similar to the first part in terms of how the story progresses. Once again, there is an evil force working overtime to bring down the Nagre family, the real mastermind is someone else, they are all gunned down eventually and revenge forms the core towards the end...

The first film, Sarkar, concluded as Shankar Nagre (Abhishek Bachchan) evened up the score in the attempted murder of his father by killing his own brother Vishnu (Kay Kay Menon) and his fellow masterminds Rashid, Selva Mani, Vishram Bhagat and the Swamiji...

The film's politics also remain specious - Nagre senior expounds on gandi rajniti and then coolly has his enemies murdered.
Despite these sizeable bumps, I recommend that you see Sarkar Raj. Its performances are a proof that Ram Gopal Varma, who last gave us the mind-numbing Aag, is on way to getting his groove back.

'Sarkar Raj' may not be as impressive as 'Sarkar' primary due to a dip post interval ,but it is sure set to get Ramgopal Varma a lot of accolades from the very people who ruled him out. At the box- office, success awaits the producers.

Sarkar Raj rocks! It has career best performances from Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai and will increase the value of Bachchan brand in bollywood immensely. The film will be lapped up by the multiplex audiences due to presence of the three Bachchans and the hoopla created around it. An outstanding film.

Overall, the film looks very nice (as Sarkar also did) and different from RGV Ki Aag (which looked atrocious), and the cinematography is first-rate...

The first half of 'Sarkar Raj' essentially belongs to Abhishek Bachchan, who delivers a restrained and intense performance, looking glum for the most part. Aishwarya Rai stays on the sidelines throughout the film and gets a few challenging scenes...

0 of 1 people found this review helpful The biggest minus point in the film is the lack of heroism in Abhishek's character. Though he is poised to become the successor of 'Sarkar', but most of the time he is just tagging along Aishwarya's character..

0 of 1 people found this review helpful Varma's politics may be half-baked, but he does give his films a distinctive look, even it means shooting hideous close-ups and having faces bleached out by strong light from the windows.

0 of 3 people found this review helpful Varma goes to the Underworld (he always does). The Bachchans are in tow (super-duper-super). And the camera crew shuffles through bungalow interiors, which are so tobacco-nicotine-coloured, that they could raise the hackles of minister Ramadoss...

0 of 2 people found this review helpful Technically the film is in awe of itself. The same trick of playing with light in a dull, almost monochromatic room is repeated tiredly. It makes for a pretty frame but the effort is self-conscious...

1 of 1 people found this review helpful Sarkar Raj is a hard hitting and intense film and does full justice to the original. It succeeds in all departments and is exactly the type of movie we needed (or at least the type of movie I needed)...
